anyone using a 14 in front of a scope, looking for options to mount on ar with my scope, curious which mounts work the best for this type of setup, cant afford a clip on so gonna see how this works

Save yourself the headache and don't bother. There's this little problem called collimating and you won't have it by putting a pvs-14 in front of a day optic. You will probably have a severe shift.

Mount it on the ocular lens if you need to use it with a day scope. It can be done and works decent if you can work out your eye relief issues.

Ive heard it both ways with lucking up on POI shift, my friend says its the best way hes set up with his 14, and then again a lot of posts say spring for the clip on

I agree with Spartan1.

you can buy an attachment to clamp it on a day scope between the day scope and your eyeball and some people have had some success, but the end of the PVS-14 ends up being too close to the butt of the rifle. I tried it once and it was so uncomfortable I never took it to the field. even with a forward scope mount and a rubber stock extender as in the picture below.

In all the systems we have tried, there is a severe POA/POI shift do to the lack of collimation. Putting a PVS-14 out in front should be left for dedicated clip-ons.

PRI makes a great mount that has lasted the test of time for folks who need height adjustment.

Our TM-14 next to our Torch Pro is one of our best sellers for versatility as well. The ability to go from helmet to weapon and vice/versa in just a few seconds is a real plus for passive to active.

this works with a 3x magnifier also, but my first post was with a more standard type of scope. using a red dot scope works out much better. this was my setup before I purchased a D760.

+1 on the 6 position stock and ir's. You can get buy without the 6 position stock. Just mount day scope with your nose just touching the charging handle on ar15. The Monoloc (expensive) adapter works great with pvs14. Absolutely zero poa/poi issues. Suggest using a low power scope like 2-10 ... parallax should be on the side...coyotes don't like hunters reaching forward and turning things.

dedicated NV is nicer (fov) for only night hunting, but if you hunt all the time and with different guns pvs14 is the way to go...I can't count the number of times I got coyotes coming out before dark or in the am at first light.

Our R&D on front mounted PVS-14s show problems with POA shift and the overall resolution/clarity is not as good as rear mounted PVS-14s. Stock extenders that we sell and/or an AR-15 with an adjustable stock are more than sufficient to take care of any eye relief issues on rear mounted PVS-14s. For maximum versatility such as goggle hands free applications, camera mounting, spotting scope mounting, hand held monocular applications, and weapon mounts for both short or long range shooting applications, the PVS-14 or MX-160 should be your NV of choice. mounting my MX160 behind a vortex 5x20 saved me on a recent hunt, had forgot to bring my HTRN QD mount and was able to mount at adequate height with a mount from TNVC and took a coyote at 197 yards no moon. one reason I always have a pvs14/mx160 and mount with me or in the truck
