Q-beam

I was wondering if anyone uses the q-beam, 3 million candle light power with a red lense for spotting, seems like that would light up and area, but maybe to much light.

I went with a buddy last night that has this same 3,000,000 candle watt light. This light had a power cord and he plugged it into a portable battery pack. Run time last night was probably 3 hours and showed no sign of low battery. This thing suprised me and lite the world up. I tell you after seeing that light last night, I will be getting this same set up for my scanning. We easily could see 300 yards with this light for identification.

If you really want a qbeam they make a led version that runs for like 5 hours. Has a low setting too I think. If I was getting a handheld spotlight for scanning/shooting with a good run time I would take a look at one of these.

I use one and it lights up the night. It's good for big fields and such shinin 300yds.The problem is the light is to big, bulky, heavy but it gets the job done and for $40.I'm going to break down and pick up another XLR250 for scannin.

The battery pack was one you would buy any where. It had jumper cables attached to it and a 12V plug in which he used to plug in the light. Yes it is bulky and heavy but if you want to light up the world, it will do it. He regularly calls from the back of the truck so its not a problem for him. I actually looked at one and it can easily be modified for carrying around by putting some back pack straps on it for getting away from the truck so your hands are free. This is what Im going to do and leave my 250 kill light on the gun. Once I identify, the Q-Beam will get turned off and the XLR 250 will do the rest.Im telling you guys, I know its bulky but I have never seen a light like this. You can see 300 yards +. I have been having trouble identifying what the animals were coming across the fields over 100 yards. With the Q-Beam its like hunting in the day light.

I've used the 2 million cp Qbeams quite a bit and the internal batteries just don't cut it for me. I ended up using 12 volt deep cycle batteries that go in power wheelchairs (free supply for me) to power them thru the external power plugs with a 10 foot cord to allow for some movement. I remove the internal battery to lighten it up considerably. I load up all of my hunting gear on the 4 wheeler and take it out prior to hunting. This setup is far from ideal for most hunters. Works for me as I'm on my own property. I also use one of the 2 mcp that I've modified and mounted to my scope with a rheostat from the auto parts store. Works great....but once again not mobile at all. I am currently saving up for a XLR-250 as I believe though not as bright it is much more manageable.
