question about bullets

Yep they are both .224 The "bullet" will work. But don't put a .223 shell into a 22-250. But you probably already knew that.

say what???

If your asking if the bullets that a 223 rem shoot will work in a 22-250, then yes becuase they are both .224"

.223" bullets are not the same as .224" bullets.

.223" bullets are smaller and will have a bit of "wobble" when fired down rifles with a .224" diameter. All of your 222, 223, 22-250, 220 swifts are all .224" diameter.

I cant think of very many cals/rifles that have a .223" diameter.

Hope this helps a bit.

so a .223 40 grain bullet will not shoot right in my 22-250??

The projectile (40gr .224) will shoot from a .22-250 rifle if loaded in a .22-250 case. Hate to be border line sarcastic with my response if you already knew that. But we were getting nowhere fast.

You reload correct? Im just making sure. You question is slighly confusing.

You want to know if a .223" diameter bullet will shoot in a .22-250 chambered rifle?

what they are saying is that the actual bullet diameter of a ".223 Remington" is in fact .224 inches, as is a 22-250, .222, and .220 swift. Despite the name ".223" the bullet in a ".223 Remington" is not actually .223 inches in diameter... and so the answer to your question depends on whether you mean the bullet used in a ".223 Remington" round, or a bullet with an actual diameter of .223 inches. If you mean the bullet used in a .223 Remington (.224 diameter), then yes you can load it in a .22-250 cartridge, if you mean a bullet with an actual diameter of .223 inches, then no, it may wobble as it travels the length of the barrel.... and if there's any chance you mean (and I don't really think you do, but just to clarify) using a round of .223 Remington ammo in a rifle chambered for .22-250, then definitely not

The only guns I can think of that would use a bullet that is actually .223" in diameter would be an OLDER .22 hornet (new ones all use .224" bullets) or possibly (someone correct me if I'm wrong here) the .22 jet.
