Question about the effectiveness of electronic calls on whitetail deer

I'm thinking about buying a foxpro fx3 for calling in whitetail deer and turkey. I was wondering if anyone has had any success using electronic calls on whitetail deer and turkey. I have searched the internet and was not able to find any info on this subject. Thanks in advance!

I should have been more specific. Any luck with non-distress sounds ie buck grunt, doe grunt

i have called deer and turkey with my old JS prey master , so i know it will work . i have a FX-3 and it sounds better so i know it will work also ..good luck .

Check out Byron South's DVD, "Coming to the Call IV." After the credits roll at the end of the video, there's some bonus footage. He calls in about a half-dozen angry deer with a rabbit distress. He's in TX, so they're more than likely whitetails.

I have pics of a 3x5 mulie and 7 does that came in to rabbit distress in northern Nevada last year. It's about a 24" spread. Not a trophy, but still a good deer.

The local blacktails respond to rabbit distress also, and when they move you can at least see them. The brush is thick.

Deer? Rabbit distress? Go figure.

Funny you should ask. That's ALL I've called in so far with my FX3. (Well, almost. I also called in a herd of elk.) The blacktail fawn distress has brought a couple of does running in ready to save the day as well as a curious buck, and the lost turkey hen and turkey kee kee gets the turkeys fired up too.

These are blacktail deer and rio grande turkeys we've got out here, but I think it should work on yours too.

I've often called mule deer into a distress sound when calling coyotes. This year my grandson and I had mule deer tags so I set up my WT call to try and call in a deer. I used fawn distress and cotton tail distress sounds but all we called in were 3 coyotes that we let walk.

I did call in a White Tail buck that my wife shot with her 6mm but I was using rattling sounds on the WT.

Phikapp, make sure you know the local laws regarding the use of electronics in your state. The use of electronics is illegal in many state and local areas as well as federally on most waterfowl(Snow Geese are the exception). Texas changed their laws back in the mid to late 90's but never told anybody. It is legal to use electronics on Deer and turkey in Texas and a surprising number of other states.

The Johnny Stewart CT114C Gobbler Fight is a great one as well as the Spring Hen Call(CT114A). The best customer testamonial on our CT151 Rattling tape was a Whitetail Buck that scored 157.

Do not expect deer to respond as readily as many predators do. The Turkey calling should provide you some good action.

Back in October I had a Blacktail forkhorn buck sneak up to the back door on me while calling (J.S. Vittles Ala Jackrabbit, was what was playing, GS /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif . Just that week I'd had a fellow (name of George) stop by with a set of antlers and I'd gotten him to rattle for my microphone. Well, soon as I switched tracks to Rattlin' George, the buck turned tail and bounded away. Suppose the biggest baddest buck wouldn't have run off, but I guess this one wasn't all that.

I've called a slew of does with fawns to cottontail cries, which are similar in pitch to blacktail fawn cries. Does get very agitated sometimes, figure the ones that do have lost fawns to lions at some point.
