this is off topic for this but figured it would get more hits on here. but if there are any cops on here help would be appreciated.

I work private security for section 8 housings and need a good waterproof boot that's comfortable. ive tried magnums for years until I was tired of them falling apart, had one pair of rocky alpha force that hurt my feet and 1 pair of danners that didn't last long for the price point. don't have any uniform stores around me so I have to order online and read some reviews but there's a lot of boots out there. any suggestions and info would be appreciated.

I got 3 years out of a pair of Thorogoods. I just recently switched to a pair of 5.11 boots that are very comfortable but i cant speak on their performance yet.

how were the thorogoods as far as comfort? I seen them online but never heard of them until then. we walk a lot and stand so got to be comfortable.

thanks for the reply.

I wear thorogood boots # 834-6731 as a mailman.
They are comfortable all year round.
They are light weight, waterproof, insulated (not a lot), solid soles so when they are wearing you are not just putting holes in the soles like many other brands that have hollow soles.
Require no break in. I do wear through 2 pair a year as I walk 14 miles a day so they get a heck of a lot of useage daily.
They run about $140 or so now.

They are just called postal certified on the box as they are union & American made. Look like any other duty boot to me.
Even though they are supposed to be waterproof I can say for a fact that after about a month or so of wearing they are not. They all seem to leak around the toes/ball area. They work good for about a month solid walking through street/snow/rain water on the ground and that's about it. I have gone through at least 21 pair so far since I started to buy them w/my postal uniform allowance. Otherwise Ill still buy them as they just wear good & are very comfortable.

I have worn a couple pairs of thorogood boots. Albeit they were a steel toed work boot so probably not the style you would be looking for. That said, thorogood makes a very good boot and I would say they have been the most comfortable, most durable boot I have ever had and I do not hesitate to look at thorogood whenever I shopping for new boots.
