Made this set facing southeast, Foxpro to the north across the ditch, wind from the west blowing down the ditch.
I was there for 22 minutes, thinking about aborting, when I finally had a pair come over the hill from the SE. They both were farting around, not really acknowledging the call much, & I actually saw one catch a mouse. They finally went out of sight, & as I was scanning, I had one directly below me on this side of the ditch at 40 yards heading east. The video starts then, and I never saw him after that, must have disappeared in the ditch.
By then, a forth one had come over the hill from the SE, same as the first pair. As I was keeping an eye on him, a fifth, or maybe one of the original pair, came in from my side of the ditch. Once he stopped, I shot him, then moved to the other. Thinking he was a little further, I held on his back, and promptly shot just over. Luckily he stopped to give me a 2nd shot.
To top it off, another showed up on the far hillside. Again, might be one of the originals, or a new one, who knows. I never could get a range on him. The far tree line was 900 yards, the hill side in front of him was 600, so he was somewhere in between. With no way to hold on the reticle, and not knowing the range, I just watched & saved him for another night.
All told, this stand lasted 45 minutes.
This is a daytime pic from a couple years ago to show the setup:
The iRay has 5 minute recordings, so this is a continuation.
