"Tracer" light

I'm using a Tri-Tronics classic 70 G3EXP with 2 collars for my dogs. I recently bought a couple "Tracer" lights for them. I was under the impression I'd be able to turn these lights on from any distance (with in the range of the transmitter). They work fine if I'm within a couple feet, and continue operating. Just not what I was lead to believe before I bought them. Did I misunderstand the operation, is this typical operation for the tracers lights?

I can turn the tracer light on as long as it is in range of the transmitter on my trashbreaker G3.

I bought the tracer lights on e-bay... wondering if maybe they're damaged or "blems" of some sort.

I had problems with mine as well. Any time I would shock a dog, the light would activate as if I had pushed the Accessory button. I sent it in to Tritronics, and they said it was operating normal. I had another one that worked great until the dog chewed it up one day when I had it on as a bark collar.

Well I got the replacement from the ebay dealer.. this set works like a charm! Kind of strange that both the others didn't work and both of these do..? I could've understood it better if only 1 was bad.
