Rabbit Decoy?

Has anyone ever used the rabbit decoy below out of Cabela's. "Don't know how to put picture in."

Predator Supreme Decoy Item: IC-224320
Price: $39.99

You can make one for alot less than what they sell for in Cabela's. Go to Walmart or one of the local toy stores and buy a $3-$4 mini bumble ball. Don't worry about all the different colors they come in. Take one of the knobbies off the ball and find a spring that is just a little bigger than the hole you just made. Screw the spring into the hole and secure it with some JB Weld. At the local hardware store or lumber yard you can find a wooden dall that will fit tightly inside of the coil spring. Cut the other end at an angle so that staking it into the ground will be easier. Also at Walmart find a stuffed rabbit or any natural colored creature that will make a tight fit around the bumble ball. Pull out the stuffing from the bottom and slide over the bumble ball. You now have a decoy with more movement and alot cheaper. The JB Weld will be the most expensive item to buy but if you like me it comes in handy for lots of things around the house that the kids break. Now as for using one and having much success, I haven't yet. The next few months will give a better picture as to where they are worth the effort or money. Hope this helps.

I have been experimenting with different types of decoys for the last year. I definitely think you can make your own cheaper than what some of the popular ones out their cost. A rabbit hide attached to a small stake would even fit the bill, add a slight breeze and you have the perfect decoy. I have to admit though, I do have a predator supreme decoy. The only complaint I might have of it is that the batteries can go dead at the most inappropriate times. Be sure to carry extras. I also tried the rigor rabbit. I really didn't care for it at all. Movement on this decoy left something to be desired and I didn't particularly care for the noise it made. I'm definitely not an expert but I believe the key is just that little bit of movement to concentrate the predator's senses on. When I do use a decoy I also like to use some rabbit scent as well. Not on the decoy itself, but on a piece of nearby rag. Good luck.

I have one of those predator supreme decoys and it has served me well. I have had several situations where the coyote will just stand there and stare at the decoy for at least a minute before it moves in closer. I think they work pretty good. Keep an extra battery in your pocket though!

Yeah that coyote might have been coming in anyways, but saw you before you saw him. That decoy has saved my tail a few times. But like the other guys said bring extra batteries.

Not here in Colorado. That must be that thick Texas grease wood and @#!&* you are hunting in. Up here, they are a waste of time.

But for Cats they are a must!

Hey Texas, you will probably need an old 45/70 and buckskin clothes before they will allow you to hunt in Colorado. And DECOYS DONT WORK in Colorado, so if you ever make the trip up there, remember to leave your decoy home, because although Utah dogs seem to hook up on em just fine, them Colorado dogs know better, and they absolutely dont work! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

There is no such thing as a decoy in Colorado is there? You go out, call, they come runnin in with no problem and you shoot them perfect every time, no assistance needed, no camo, no nothin, just buckskin britches and the old 45/70 that grandpa left ya. Ya all take it easy...or take it however you can get it! Peace...

I,ve help my boy's get a preditor supreme together. We got the ball thru www.decoy heart.com for $16.00 post paid.Had to play a bit to get the action right. This was at T-Giving.Have'nt used alot yet.Santa brought me a Preditor Enticer. Runs on 4 C batteries.Supposed to get 50hrs out of batteries.Has a cicuit board in it so there is movement every few seconds instead of continuous.Alittle more high teck? Cost about $35.00. I think It has an edge over the preditor supreme.Check it out at www.tail-wagger.com

I have the predator supreme and I can't see how a predator wouldn't get interested.Used it saturday for grey fox,and they never had a clue we were there.Watched one stop 15 yards and just stare.
maybe you could make one cheaper, but for 40 bones,I can't complain.
