I have been experimenting with different types of decoys for the last year. I definitely think you can make your own cheaper than what some of the popular ones out their cost. A rabbit hide attached to a small stake would even fit the bill, add a slight breeze and you have the perfect decoy. I have to admit though, I do have a predator supreme decoy. The only complaint I might have of it is that the batteries can go dead at the most inappropriate times. Be sure to carry extras. I also tried the rigor rabbit. I really didn't care for it at all. Movement on this decoy left something to be desired and I didn't particularly care for the noise it made. I'm definitely not an expert but I believe the key is just that little bit of movement to concentrate the predator's senses on. When I do use a decoy I also like to use some rabbit scent as well. Not on the decoy itself, but on a piece of nearby rag. Good luck.
