Hey i was just wondering if anyone knew of some good areas in eastern washington that have rabbits. I have lived here for 15 years and havent ever seen one rabbit ( i live out in the country part of spokane)
Please if anyone knows where there are rabbits in washington please tell me

Are you familiar with the Colville area at all? I have seen them in many areas around Colville on state/public land. They are not super thick but they are there. Find an old skidder trail and grab the .410 and take a walk and you'll come around the corner and catch them in the road. Seen alot that way. Course your gonna have to wait since most places are not really accessible right now with the snow.

That is also a good way to catch an unsuspecting grouse.

Grouse closed on the 31st of Dec., But it looks like you've got until Mar. 15 to bag a rabbit. I don't think the snow will let you into most places by then. Ya might have to wait till next September to try.

Down south, moses lake/ephrata/quincy area are some jacks, lots of blm and bonneville power land down there to hunt should be able to get some down there.

helluva long ways to drive for some rabbits tho. I imagine N. Idaho has some cottontail that might be your best best, even with the out of state small game liscence.

I'm from the grand coulee area (actually keller if you know where that is) and used to do alot of whitetaill hunting in colville, up tiger highway, 9where my aunt and uncle lived).

We saw a few cottontails over around Vantage/ Royal City area while coyote hunting. My hunting buddy didn't want to kill them because they are "too cute." If I thought he was serious when he said that, there would have been a hunting accident. We had some thick juicy steak sittin at the cabin, and rabbit just didn't sound good.

Go to some old farmers dumps. You know they got old machinery and pipes and there old junk piled in a pit. I have killed more bunnies than I can count doing this. Just sit and watch they will come out after 10 minutes or so. This is also a good way to take rock chucks in the summer.

When I was a kid in Seattle, my dad would take me to eastern Washington for pheasant hunting. This was around 1967 or 68. We found a place near Royal City, south side of the highway, up the hills a bit, with tons of jacks in the sagebrush (yet another "Bench Road" as I recall). Coyotes, too. We got a lot more shots off at the rabbits than at birds on those trips, needless to say. Years later, around 1982 or so, I went back with a friend. Not a rabbit to be seen. We talked to a rancher's kid who was about 12 or 13, and he'd never seen any jacks out there. Weird, as they were all over the place before.
