I have been out several times in search of cotton tails or snow shoes.. and never seem to have much luck. I was hoping someone might suggest a few go to stratagies for success.
I know the rabbits and hares are here as I see tracks often.
I live above 9000 feet and have good access for national forest.

Find some brush piles, felled branches, and what not that are snowed or leaved over with sign around them and jump and stump through them stick your legs right into the center of them-kick around. Get ready they'll coming running out. You can walk by those piles 100's of times and not see anything-you got to force them out. Goodluck.

Been seeing cotton Tails all Spring & Summer running around on & around my property,Without a care in the world, Now that the Oct. Opening Day for them has come, they are no where to be found. Folks say the Foxe's & Coyotes & a few Feral Cats that I still see roaming around may be the cause for their vanishment.? etc. I do not have any Beagles to Hunt with,so I just walk around & kick up the brush piles looking for them with No Luck so far.

I cant walk on a ranch where I call coyotes without stepping on darned rabbits. The coyotes don't bother with them, to much energy spent when they can mouse all day long and be full.
Come dark and its like fleas...they are all over!

Look for, fence rows & brush piles. Walk really slow. If you walk to fast, they'll hold tight. But if you walk really slow, they'll get nervous and jump. Giving you a shot.
