i have a little griz trap for coons do i have to do any prep to the trap like dye or wax. i heard you have to for yotes and cats but do coons care? thanks

I personally haven't used the lil griz trap and I'm sure the coon won't care. You still need to do something to protect the trap or they'll begin to rust. If you've been using them then don't sweat it since the season is pretty much over. I would treat them afterwards then put them away until next year. I dip my legholds that I use for coon in speed dip, should work for your lil griz. Maybe somebody that has used them will give you their opinion. Take care.

i'm not an expert on any kind of trapping but did you ever notice that the big old boar coon usually get caught in a well prepared fox set. well it sort of looks to me that the older coon do care about the scent free thing so at least dye them. i'v never used this style trap but some (like conibears) dont do well if waxed in the trigger areas (ouch).

I have some of them. Just set. I didnt wash mine, they come with a little oil from the factory. You can paint them or dip them but after a coon or 2 that is all worn off.. End of season clean them up dry them off and you are good to go.
