Hi i order a DVD last week looking for it any time has anybody seen it yet are seen any thing about it they said it was 4 hours long the name of it was The Truth Calling all Coyotes made by Randy Anderson and Primos if any body has seen it let me know how it was thanks VM

You've got a bit of a wait. The DVD's aren't out until about the 1st of August. VHS is out in about 10 days as per Primos.

Hopefully I'll get mine before I head out at the end of the month to do some calling. The videos get my 11 year old charged up!

Is this new material or is it his previous stuff re-edited for Primos? Just wondering, I have it all so far and if this is new, I want it to.

It will be new video, done with some of the Primos staff, mostly filmed last winter, using all of the new Randy A. series of Primos predator calls.

I'm looking forward to it as well, but hope what I'm hearing about Randy lately is not the "TRUTH". The stories going on around here is that Randy is now leasing up hunting rights like it is going out of style with the new found income & fame. Since I hunt quite a bit of land in the area he frequents this doesn't have much appeal for me. I have met Randy several times & seems friendly & nice enough to me. I am just hoping it is still a "fun" venture & not a money making tool. The short of it I would hate to lose land I've hunted for nearly 30 years just so he can profit from video sales. I have NOT heard any of this directly from land owners I frequent, but you know how small communtities talk. I only hunt after the fur is prime (OCT to early FEB), & it is purely recreational for me. I guess I not going to worry too much about it as of yet, but should know shortly as I'm starting out again on my yearly land procurement of hunting land. I really should not wait so long, but like to catch the land owners "home" in the heat of the day. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Just so you guys know, this video is listed on All Predator Calls website as shipping now. The site is: www.allpredatorcalls.com

I hope the rumors you heard about R.A are not true leasing land for the pupose of financial gain
Sure its nice to make money doing something you like to do but to me hunting should be for everyone not the peson with the most money or the biggest lease
I thought I smelled a rat when I saw the first ads with R.A.and Primos calls IMHO /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

It surprises me that the idea of leasing is new to you guys. If you had the time and money to pursue the sport you love would you not do it? Leasing is becoming a major factor in hunting. I'm lucky enough to have thousands of acres to hunt without paying a dime but I sure don't blame folks that drop a little money to secure a good hunting spot.

Bottom line is, hunting ground is becoming harder to find and cities are spraling out enough to drive the value of a hunting lease up. Most people around here will let you hunt if you do a little weed eating or clean out a fence row... those days will end. Some other hunter that has less opportunity than I will knock on the door and offer a few hundred bucks and he'll be in. I don't blame anyone, the hunter or the property owner. If I lose my places to hunt its because I didn't do my part as a friend, a hunter, or a worker to hold up my end of the bargain.

IF Randy is involved in leasing its not necessarily about MONEY. The passion he has for hunting and making films pressures him to make 50-60 kills for a video and that leads to overhunting of his honey holes. Securing more hunting ground doesn't make him less of a hunter or a man, he's still doing what he loves and doing it on a larger scale!

jrbhunter,

I was not questioning Randy's passion or even his right to lease land. However, do not tell me I haven't done my part as a friend, hunter, or worker. I have been on these lands since I've been 10yrs old & helped most of their fathers' with chores as the kids (who now own the land) were too small, too busy, or not interested in helping. In the last 45yrs if I would have put in as much time at my occupation as helping others I guess I would maybe have enough money to own most of this land --so hey I must have screwed up.
IF and I am using the term again for clarification because like I stated earlier it so far has proven to be hersey. IF Randy is indeed leasing some or all of this land, I will no doubt be disappointed that I have lost land to hunt on. And IF he is under "pressure" to make the "50-60 kill videos that leads to the over hunting of his honey holes", I would them believe it is a business, not just the fun or passion of a hunt that drives it. I also really believe that Randy has too much respect for coyotes & is too much of a conservationist to do so.
Don't get me wrong. I like & respect Randy Anderson both for what he stands for in his videos to date as a true hunter who loves the sport & personally.
My intent /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif was not to infringe on anyone's rights (that is why we have Democrates), but merely state that if the predator market is now too on the verge of pure commericalism, others may want to secure their intrestes so they do not end up without future options.
Here is an idea, maybe I will open the first coyote preserve. I can box a couple up & release them 1/2 hour before the hunters arrive. Just like pheasants!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Also, just to be clear - so far with responces from all but 3 land owners...I have not been turned down.

Well, you wouldn't have the first coyote preserve.

Also, I have done similar chores for the landowners I hunt on for years along with my brothers. If I put in 80 hours a week 50 weeks a year for a landowner and he still accepts $1,000 from some passerby for hunting rights then apparently I didn't do enough. If you want to blame someone blame your landowner for not seeing the benefits of labor and friendship over money... but thats his choice!

If you are looking for guys making hunting videos to doing it without concern of their budget then you need to go get everyones first video and never buy their second. Once you roll over the cash from the first one you can afford better cameras... after the second you can afford better rifles and guest speakers, after the third you get offers from guiding services and ranches... so on and so on... its a continual growing process.

Believe it or not you can't film good videos by bouncing around to every average joe that says "HE COULD HUNT HERE". You need good quality ground with little hunting pressure and 100% access to it to make it worth the drive, out of state tags and downtime during season.

I feel you are mistaken in your belief that anyone that leases property to make a video doesn't love the sport as much as before or that its "all about money". You can't find a well publicized hunter that doesn't benefit from making more kills or having more property to hunt. Leasing would be just another tool for the trade... something that has become necessary to produce the quality of product you've been recognized for.

If they benefit at all from hunting they appear to be tainted in your opinion. There are many people out there that dislike deer & elk hunters because they video their shows on preserves or with guides... I've never met anyone that would be mad at the Drury brothers for leasing though.

Its an interesting take you have on the situation... I respect it but I hope you keep it in context. What you are asking of Randy would be a 1 in a million rather than status quo in the industry. I would be very surprised if Randy didn't give his landowners a dollar to keep others out when he made the first video or two... its common practice to ensure your animals aren't getting hunted. I don't use the term "lease" for those situations even though it technically is... I prefer to think its just a way of letting a landowner know you are serious about keeping others out and keeping your hunting good... when you drop hundreds of dollars into the place then it gets much more involved and legally binding.

IMHO, The predator market wouldn't be on the verge of commerciallism as you stated... I believe the hunting market in general has been a marketable occupation for certain people for over 20 years. My question about this film from the beginning was "Is Randy trying to set himself apart with a "truth" video because he believes others in the industry are making unfair films?" What do you think? It had never crossed my mind before that Randy WOULDN'T be leasing... my question was are others hunting contained coyotes or possibly baited animals? Something that made Randy want to do a "truth" video?

jrbhunter,

I apparently am not able to convey to you what my thoughts are. I feel you are misinterpreting what I meant. I guess I've failed with my communication skills. Thank you for your words. I was not trying to upset anyone. You make some fine points & I agree with almost everything you have written. Sorry if I offended anyone. It was NOT my intention. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Not a problem stick, thats the trouble with these forums... you can't get across exactly what your intending too sometimes. Its amazing what tone of voice and body language add to a conversation! No offence taken, none intended by me either.

I like Randy's videos as well and had been ask several times to make a video before I actually did. Seeing Randy's first video was what helped me make the decision to begin my first. Making a quality video, and marketing it is a monumental task, especially when you are relatively unknown. From my perspective I can certainly appreciate what Randy has done, and I wish him continued success. He has put out a lot of effort and untold hours to get to where he is. The title of Randy's new video(The Truth)is just a Primos thing. They have several other videos about elk, turkey, and deer hunting in "The Truth" series. I think the implication is that some may be staged but ours (Primos)is not. This is just marketing and standard practice, and you can't fault them for that. In my limited experience I have had people treat me differently since I have started making video's, even though I'm the same guy as before. I would be willing to bet that most of the guy's that complain about what Randy does, would change places with him in a heart beat if they could. Barkingstick, I don't think your complaining but I understand your concerns. I have lost lots of ground to wealthy people leasing it out from under me. I don't fault them or the land owners. I live in Texas, and it 99% privately owned and most every square mile is leased to some type of hunter. It is tough but that's just the way it is. I am asked all the time how have I acquired so many places to hunt. Simple answer: I work very hard (harder than most) at it, and I assume Randy does too.

Good Hunting

Byron,

I agree. I'm sorry if it seemed that I singled out Randy. It was not really my intent. Truth is I would be disapointed to lose access to my hunting haunts, no matter what the case. His name was thrown around quite abit so naturally I was hoping it was not the case.
I would love to do what Randy & you are able to. Usually around here in SD, we have pretty much free run to take out predators. We are used to seeing paid hunting for Pheasants, Deer, Ducks, & Geese. It seemed the predator callers were one group that could still exist with out paying. I realize that no area is immune. I was hoping the people I grew up around, loaned my farm equipment to, helped with chores, & those that call whenever they need something politically - (I even pulled one young man out of his combine)would continue to grant me access. I do own a pretty good spread & have family land in northern SD as well. I will never not have access to hunting. Many times the hunting rights I considered to be mutual. If given permission to predator hunt, I would grant access for deer & pheasant. I have not charged, and would like to think I never will. I guess time will tell. I do give permission to friends & small groups of hunters. This is all I was hoping for in return.
I more than likely was complaining at least a little /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif .

Thanks for the responces. Oh yeah!! I did get permission on all the land I've hunted in the past. I do hunt quite a few pheasant preserves after they slow down.

BY THE WAY BYRON:

I ALSO HAVE BOTH OF YOUR VIDEOS & THINK THEY ARE GREAT!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hey guys, its been a long time since I've been on I almost forgot how to get on. As far as the new dvd it will be out on the 1st of August, I got a call and I should have the vhs tape in a few days it has been sent out. All the footage on this tape is new and it should be good, I was just wondering who said that RA was leasing land for hunting, I know for a fact this is not true he has spent a lot of time with me and and couple of other outfitters and he does promote these operations for working with him but he is not leasing up land away from other sports for his personal use on his videos. Any way I think you will enjoy the video it has a lot of good footage, hits misses and otherwise, I had my share of all of them, well till later take care and keep your crosshairs straight up.

Ordered my DVD a couple weeks ago. Should be here in Aug. I'm from central Nebraska and sent Randy a letter a year ago offering to come south an hour from his place to hunt. He never replied. Gave him my phone #'s email and home address, nothing. Guessing he was pretty busy, just would have liked any response. Well I have all his video's and love them all. The Vermintors is my least favorite, just didn't have as great of video as the others.
Well, I can't wait to get the DVD.

Well guys The RANDY ANDERSON called me last night just before I was leaving for work. I couldn't believe it. A friend of his told him he was getting beat up for leasing land to hunt. Well lay that one to rest, he said he is not leasing out hunting land. He has plenty of offers to hunt land with out the need to lease land. Wish I would of had more time to talk with him, it blew my mind that he called. I had given up on hearing from him, think it was a courteousy call after seeing this thread. Seems like a wonderful guy, if I ever get to hunt with him it will be a dream come true. Definitely a celebrity in my book.

Randy if you read this, Thanks for the call. It meant a lot.

I don't think he was actually being beaten on in this thread... nor (in my opinion) should anyone who DOES lease property for their hunting use. Maybe Randy will post in here a time or two? Of corse there would be a couple people pelt him with ignorant comments but for the most part we'd all benefit from his presence and experience.

Well, I watched the video last night. Another very good video. On this one the hunter was usually miked up, a nice addition. Video quality seemed a little bit better as well, and that's not a slam on previous videos. Randy is just getting even better at operating the camera and capturing everything.

I've just watched it once through obviously, and can't think of anything extraordinary on it you wouldn't see in his other videos, (other than Randy's dancing   /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif ) but this one, along with the last one he put out, are the best video values out there. Four hours of good hunting video for $14 is just nuts.

Should Randy or Primos be reading these posts, my one suggestion for the next video, is instead of listing the specific time of certain events in the video, list the initial time, and all following times list as "+ 8 mins" or "+ 22 mins" or something to that effect. A few times where I was interested in how long something took, I was rewinding through video to find the start time.

The addtion of the time and hunt information was a nice feature too.

Again, just crazy to get 4 hours of this quality of video for $14. Makes the choice on which videos to buy for those on a budget a bit easier. A nice addition to his video series. Anxious to see the next one as well.

And, I'll add, not regarding the video, but his calls. I did buy the "Lil Dog" call a couple weeks ago looking for a replacement for my Austin Howler. I just can't get that Austin to do just what I want it to, and without occasionally running out of air before I'm finished.

I found the replacement to that call, and to my Critr call standard, so this one call just took the place of two. Very easy call to blow, with minimal air needed, and good sounds as a howler and distress call. I didn't care for the green or "close range" mouthpiece, but the call is still worth the price of admission with just the white or "long range" mouthpiece being used. This one will not be getting added to my growing collection of "rejects", and now has a nice resting place in my glove box with my other standard calls, Critr call Magnum, and a tweety.
