Range report Ruger LC9S

I bought a Ruger LC9S a few days ago and finally got a chance to fire some rounds at the range. Let me start off by saying this pistol has the best trigger by far of any factory handgun I've fired. Very light pull which helped the accuracy a lot I'm sure. Accuracy was very good with fairly tight groups shooting around 10 yds using factory Federal American Eagle FMJ ammo. I also used some Tula 115 gr FMJ and they shot just a bit better. It ate everything just fine with nary a jam or problem of any kind. Very pleased with this pistol and would highly recommend one for daily carry usage. Not much bigger than the Ruger LCP 380. I got it a a local gun shop at their Ruger Days show for $329.00 plus bg and tax.

Took a trip to the range today. Carried the LC9S, P95, Glock 22 and a Keltec 380. The LC9S had much better accuracy than any of the others even with such a short barrel and I's say the trigger made the difference. Ran 3 different brands of ammo and not a hiccup with the LC9S. The P95 didn't like the Blazers with several jams. The Glock did fairly well but the trigger sure needs some work. The Keltec is a decent getoffofme gun, fits the pocket well, was cheap and ran just fine. I'm really liking the LC9S.

Now, get a De Sanits pocket holster(V5 Model) so the gun will not imprint in your back or front pocket!

Mine loves the Speer 124g Gold Dots!

If you feel the need to carry, then always carry a spare mag...bad guys run in groups.

I'm not very fond of pocket holsters so I'm looking for a high-riding OWB leather holster. Any ideas? I'll try the Gold Dots asap. Also need to get another mag as they only come with one.

Thanks for the report. I've become a big Ruger fan and, while I don't own the LC9, I do carry and shoot both the LCP in .380 and the LCRX in .38 Spl. They are well-built.

My Ruger LC9S Pro didn't come with night sights on it. Did your's get modified after it was made at the factory? I'm not sure that they come with night sights from the factory. I know mine didn't. But I got my at a local gun store. Maybe there are other models that have been ordered with night sights?

But I agree it's a great carry gun. It's light and accurate and has a smooth trigger pull being fully cocked striker fired pistol similar to my Walthers PPQ M2 Pistol.

The only down side is that it only carries 7 rounds in the magazine. I do carry an extra magazine. My PPQ can carry 17 rounds and I also carry an extra magazine with the PPQ when I carried it.

I use Hornady Critical Duty 135 gr +P FlexLock 9 mm ammo when I carry mine. The LC9S Pro eats these like candy and they shoot well too. Very accurate even out to 25 yards.

The LC9S Pro is so light weight that it very comfortable to carry all day long.

You made a great choice in a carry gun.

For OWB carry, especially short barrels, I like pancake design. Holds gun tight against side. This holster holds P938 securely, has sweat shield (extremely important in our humid climate) and conceals well:
