Rare Millipede

"LOS ANGELES (AP) - The world's leggiest creature is missing-in-action no more. A scientist found a rare species of millipede, last seen 80 years ago in central California, and has collected several of the inch-long bugs for study.

This millipede has more than 600 legs, about twice the average millipede _ despite the name which means "thousand-legged." Of the estimated 10,000 species, only one, I. plenipes, comes close to living up to its name and thrives only in California."

Sure hope they are only in CA and not CO, WY or SD. Otherwise we will have to constantly watch where we step. I thought dodging cow pies was tough.

I am certain these little "bugs" are endangered and we all know where that will lead us.

Central Valley agriculture should watch out! This could be a killer for them.

My company was going to put in a terminal in Fontana CA. Before they were allowed to begin construction (already permitted) on land we had already purchased, an environmental impact study was required.

They found some kind of rare fly living there and it shut the project down. For good. Permanently.

WOW... that goes to show ya. In CA even flies have more rights than humans! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

Send every one of those "rare" flies to the treehuggers house that authored the legislation that causes all these problems for people and businesses.

Do they ever stop to think that some species are extinct because they are supposed to be....Thank God the dinosaurs are gone. If they cant cut it let them be gone.If it was last seen 80 years ago how can they say it "thrives " /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gifSomebody should have stepped on that one before the pinheads found it.
