Welcome to the PM Bulletin Boards, Rich.
There are no doubt fellers here who've used these RCA DVR devices, and threads about the DVRs in the searchable PM archives. I seem to recall DAA used one awhile back?
All sorts of ways to go to build your own ecaller, a real plethora of choices the last few years. But if you're looking to buy new, I'll mention from what I did see off the RCA webpage it looks like the $60 DVR jobs have a max 16 MB of flash. That's not very much these days (memory now being dirt cheap). Especially when recording at a high sampling rate.
Also, for predator calling, it's really useful to be able to digitally upload and trim, edit, loop, and noise filter your sounds. While you can do this with any device with an external speaker jack and a line-in or microphone jack, it's not necessarily the best method. If a device has only analog ports, you're introducing a couple of digital-to-analog conversions every time you rip tracks to a computer and load it back on the device. With every conversion there's always some loss, some potential for adding noise, particularly from garden-variety PC sound cards.
Good news is there's a bunch of recording MP3 devices nowadays. Here's a chart of some that upload via a USB cable:

For less than $100 you might look at what I've been using for a few months, the PoGo! Ripflash Plus, with 128MB flash. Can be expanded to 256MB with a 128MB Smart flash card (about $40 at Target or Costco last I looked). Credit-card sized (5/8" thick), fits well in the hand with big buttons. Makes squeaky-clean recordings with my Nady mic.
