just a little testimony on how well rcbs equipment is made.
this is a 303 savage that i was trying to remove the bullet. the bullet puller is green plastic, which i hit on a bench vice at least 25 times. the puller is still intact /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif good stuff

Make sure the collet in the top is round side up. If you get it turned down it will crack the hammer. I have also busted a couple of the new nuts. I have since switched to a Hornady vise type puller.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I've got to say, I've never seen that happen.
What make of bullet is that?
Crimped pretty heavy into the cannalure there?

Just picked one up in the past thirty days to replace my 20+ year old Midway puller.( That cracked from age) Works better than the Midway model on .243 & .220 for me. I only TAP mine on a DRYED out 6.x 10.hardwood (Chestnut) log. Three to ten TAPS and out!

Why not get the RCBS Colet type bullet puller, the only drawback to this type of puller if you want to call it a drawback is you have to buy a Colet for every caliber you have such as .224, .243/6mm, .264/6.5mm ect.

I have had one for at least 40 years and have pulled all kinds of heavy crimped bullets with no problems what so ever, no pounding needed.

I like rcbs kinetic pullers, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif every bullet that i have pulled with it comes out in 1 to three hits, mostly come out on the first. I hit it on concrete, you kinda have to let it bouce back without it coming out of your hand.
Maybe ive just been lucky /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

nocturnal how do you like the cam over puller for easy of use and gripping power on the slugs? I have the RCBS and have been thinking of the Hornady cam over as sometimes the slug slips out or it will stick in the collet.

I just picked up the Hornady last week. Am I correct that I will need to resize the case due to lost neck tension? I havent had time to play w/it yet or even read the directions.
