Rcbs power case trimmer

Just setting up a power case trimmer and when the cutter and the pilot enters the 223 case they are not lined up,is this normal? Rcbs says this is hobby trimmer and this is normal. For $200 I think it should be lined up.

Hustler, I have the manual version of the RCBS PRO TRIMMER, I also think that they should line up better but have had no problem trimming cases. If you push down on the tension handle (shell holder end), as you move/slide your pilot into the neck, things line up with the pilot just fine. You would think that RCBS would get it's collective S@$T together. This is just one of the reasons that I am slowly switching over to REDDING, just BETTER STUFF in general. JOHN

I purchased an RCBS power trimmer a few years ago - I had to process 1,200 rounds of 6mm-BR.

It was a disaster, and ruined several cases before I cought it.
I still have it and it has rust on it (none of my other tools have rust /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif ) It will eventually wind up in the trash!

I finely used the adaptor for the Foster bench trimmer (about $10) and a power drill. Worked great!!

I once had RCBS trimmers but changed to the Lyman power trimmer. Have gone through two of them and they seem to work pretty well for low volume trimming. Possum Hollow makes a cool little trimmer that fits into your drill. It indexs off the case shoulder like the Gracey. These are really good!

Mine cuts right down to under .0005" OAL with very uniform results. I would suggest you send it back and have it lined up or sell it if they won't fix it. I have tried to find a reason to switch to the expensive (wayyyyy oversized) versions, but this trimmer of mine is "dead nutz"
