Re: Charles Daly?

thanks but has any one owned or shot one of the new (2001 and up ) charles daly mausers they look great and it feels good in my hands im just trying to figure what the rifle is like after a couple boxes of ammo i wish i know some one who has one

i don't have one myself but i have heard a lot of good from people that do of course no one cuts down their own rifle good luck

I had one a long time ago, made by same company in Yugoslavia, but imported by Interarms back then. It was quite good and price was less than my Win70. With handloads it was able to put five shots in a 1.5" circle eight times out of ten. I dont know if the new batch imported by Charles Daly is exactly same quality.

I think they are made in Zastava Yugoslavia, the same as Interarms Mark X. I just picked up a Mark X in 308.
Its a fine little rifle with the exception of the trigger. Its heavy, gritty, and mushy. A timney trigger will likely find a home on that little gun.

Even with the poor trigger, it groups factory Remington 150 grain ammo 5 shots at 1.5 inches which I find acceptable. With some bedding and trigger I'm sure it will go sub MOA.

I just bought one last week for my neighbor who is in Iraq but will be home in a week or so. I don't have any info as to the performance of this rifle yet, but will keep you posted. It really looks nice right out of the box, the trigger seems acceptable. When he gets back we will be giving it a try.

Well I know it's apples to oranges, but I have one of their auto shotguns and will never buy that brand again. Recently went gunless for a day in canada on a goose hunt, when the handle sticking out of the bolt (charging handle ?)snapped in half inside the bolt. Metal defect I assume. I'd only put about 500 rounds at most through that gun before the handle broke. Luckily the farmer we were staying with let me borrow his old side by side to finish out the week. Man was my shoulder sore after 2 days of 3" high velocity's out of that thing !!!
