Rebarrel question.

I have a Savage/ Steven's action that was a 22_250 but had it converted to a 17_204.

The barrel is getting wore out and with fur prices being in the tank, I'm looking at putting a simple .223 barrel on it for a plinker.
Seems to me, that there are 2 shanks size differences.?
Any advice on what size I'd need.
And will be looking for a take off .223 if anyone has one.
I could buy it or trade with some .17 cal stuff.

Being a Savage/Stevens, I'm betting on it being a small shank barrel (7/8 nut). Most of the large shank barrels were on the target actions. Measure the length of the nut and like crapshoot said, 7/8 small, 5/8 large, and that will tell you.
