Awhile back sent my R15 Target/Varmint to Specialized Dynamics to have Scott rebarrel it to 6x45. Havn't had time to work with it much untill this weekend here are some of the results.
Went from a 24" Heavy barrel to a 20" .750.

All are 100yd three shot groups with 1' stick ons. I have the rifle sighted in with 60gr Sierra HP's so I was shooting for groups with the 70gr bullets. The TNT's are what I have the most of and am wanting to find a good accurate load for them.

AA2015 with 70gr Speer TNT's. The upper group in the first pic is a different load.

Then I tried a reduced load oF H4895 with 70TNT's.

Wow! I think you are on to something there with upper and the handloads! I have been thinking about rebarreling my R15 Upper too. Scott did a great looking job. I am assuming that is a Black Hole and by the look of it it's beadblasted too. What was the turnaround time on that? Did you buy a new bolt from him too? I will probably just do a new 223 barrel.

I sent Scott the whole upper and he used the existing bolt.

I sent the upper one week before his daughter went in for surgery so it took a little while but no complaints as I understand family comes first.

He also had to order the barrel as I wanted 20".

Fit, finish, and functioning is superb.

I still have the standard trigger in this rifle, but it breaks at 5.5lbs and has just a slight amount of creep.

Scott does awesome work. I don't think people realize that there is a precise way of doing things when it comes to a rifle with alot of moving parts that can help make a rifle be more accurate and dependable. You D-E-F-I-N-I-T-E-L-Y get what you pay for...

Randy,
Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad your upper is shooting well for you. If you ever need anything else, please let me know, I will give you a good discount since it took me a little too long to get your upper back to you.

As for my little one, all the prayers were heard, she is doing so well, growing like a little weed now.

Thanks.
Scott

Yes he does. I sold the take off barrel and gas block so when all things considered I feel that what I paid was very reasonable for what I got.

The groups above were shot during a slight falling of snow and 10-15 mph winds, 27 degrees, kneeling off the tailgate of my truck with bags as I forgot to load my bench.
