recommendation animal control pole or animal grasper

I've used the Tomahawk poles alot - I believe mine was the 4' long model. I used and abused it on everything from feral cats to coons, bobcats, coyotes to big arse feral dogs. Never had any problems out of the pole, always performed...except the couple times I tried it on river otters - no neck on those things!

I only have expierence with the katch -alls and would highly reccomend them for just about any animal. I prefer the 5-6 foot but for what you want to do the 4' should work well. You need to practice pulling the cable but after a while you get the hang of it so you don't choke them down to much.

Those graspers look like oversized snake tongs. Might be good for picking up cans along the road though

I would say go with Katch - alls. I use the 5 foot, works great. I use it for just about anyhting and it has never failed me yet. Ken is right, just takes a little getting used to pulling the cables, but not much to it.

I'd be skeptical of the "animal graspers". Looks like you have to keep tension of the trigger or it will loosen and that might me harder than you think with a wiggly coon on the end.

You can make your own. I fish for white sturgeon and a snare like this is all you need. I would use one made from a metal pipe instead of pvc though only because it can be handy for knocking down briars, etc when getting to game.

When you sinch sp it up trust me it will not back out until you pull the release. We snare 200 lb sturgeon and sharks with these and they are SUPER strong holding thrashing fish at boat side and they hold up fine.

The last one I built was out of chain link fencing top rail close to 5' long, which was too heavy but it was what I had. Instead of cable I used and old combine belt, easier to hold and stiff enough to get around a stubborn critter's neck in the corner of a cage or dog box. It has been sometime since I did this but I think I used u-bolts to fasten the belt to the pipe, on one I built from cable I cut a piece of angle and bolted to aluminum square tubing and bolted the cable to the angle.

You like those? They are a lot of fun. I fish and hunt with dogs. I don't care much for hunting unless dogs are involved but fishing is my other passion.
Here's a few more from this last season.

And here is my largest this year. Sorry for the lousy cell pic but it was all I had and fish of this size are dangerous to bring in the boat both for fish and angler.

Not one of my own but this is my favorite ALL TIME fishing video and one I'm sure we can all relate to lol
