Reconsidering 2020 waypoint

Ive had my heart set on a 2020 waypoint in 6mm creedmoor for a few years now, and finally have the $ stashed away. Especially attractive right now is the free 2020 rimfire if i buy before the end of the year! Plan on using for open range windy day coyotes possibly up to deer size game (although i do have deer rifles also). My current calling rifle is a 204 ruger.

Ran into a snag tho. Im a bit hesitant now due to multiple reports of actions not feeding, not extracting, and scarring rounds in the mag when cycling (most common with 6.5 prc, but .308 based cases included also). In addition, springfield has been reported to almost have less than a crap to give when it comes to making it right. Even to the extent of one buyer being told that failure to extract was a feature of the rifle! Might buy that excuse on a single shot hand fed bench rest gun, but no way on anything marketed as a hunting rifle!

So i was looking for some current input on springfield in general, but especially experience with the 2020 line of rifles. If not recommended, what would you go for in that same ~2k price range? Thanks for any input!

Ps: heres one place my info has come from thus far. Hopefully not an issue to post the link!

Been lookin around a couple days. I have handled a seekins but it was a while ago. I’ll have to check them out again next weekend when im in fargo. Looked at a fierce yesterday also and liked it too. Not a ton of posts of this one, but thanks will!

Something else you might consider. The Savage Ultra lite. A buddy has one in 308 and its a hammer. He just bought another in 270. I haven't heard from him how it shoots but just guessing, it probably shoots really well.

I was in the same boat when I seen the 2020, I wanted the 308 rifle so I bought one. Was the worst rifle I had ever spent money on, sent back numerous times to Springfield because would not shoot amongst other action issues. Finally my dealer bought it back from me and I went another route.

The store in Tulsa that I frequent had two in stock a while back. At the time, I didn't have the money to buy one and I wanted one really bad. When I finally got the money together I went back and as luck would have it, they sold both just the day before. What was insult to injury, the guys that bought them were members of my club. A little time went by and I kept reading reviews on them and now, I'm kinda glad I missed out. Even with a free 22LR I'm not sure I'd spent the money. I might consider the Christensen rifles for about the same money. A friend has one in 6.5 CM with the carbon barrel and its a shooter. Since then, I bought a rifle from a friend. Its a Defiance action with a Rock barrel in an AG stock in 308 Winchester. No flies on this rifle. I've shot in the high ones and mid fours with everything I have shot through it. My best so far is a .141 for three shots and a five shot group with a .441 and followed it up with another five shot group that measure the same.

My buddy got the 2020 in a 6.5 creed and it had feeding and ejection issues. It was also finicky with ammo. He sold it and got a Seekins and is all in on them now.

I’ve owned two Seekins and they’re such awesome guns. I recently got the 6 creed Havak PH2 and out of the box with factory ammo it shoots amazing. Here’s a 20 round group at 100 yards with shots 20-40 and then 4 more from this morning at 200 yards. Still trying to put rounds into the barrel to speed it up.

The only thing I’m not the biggest fan of with the Seekins is the need to grind or cut out stock material if you want to attach a Arca or pic rail. I took a dremel to mine and put a Arca in last night. As you can see I cut a little too much but the stock doesn’t have any play in it still. Put JB weld over the screw bases and it’s not going anywhere.

I’d buy a Seekins over fierce or a waypoint any day.

IMO, Seekin's is just a custom built factory rifle or factory built custom rifle, however you want to put it. You can't go wrong with one unless its used and had the crap shot out of it. I bought a very lightly used one in 6.5 CM and it shot extremely well. I doubt you'll save much money buying used as opposed to new and if you buy it new you know what your getting.

Well the beauty in buying a Seekins, regardless if it’s used or not, the company provided badass customer support and will take care of you. If you buy one with a shot out barrel, you can mail it back to them and they’ll rebarrel for $550. I’ve read that they’ve even paid for shipping if you rebarrel with them. $550 for a quality barrel is a steal.

I just sold my 300 win mag in a Seekins PH2 for $1100. There’s deals to be had out there.

Mine was a Creedmoor. I got pretty burned out on the Man bun and sold mine. Not a thing wrong with it and was a wonderful rifle. Any other caliber and I might have hung on to it. I had a PRC and liked it as well but went back to the basic old school calibers for a while now. 308,7mm08, 6.5x55, 6mm, 243, 22-250AI and a standard 22-250, 223 and 222. Old school stuff. LOL

A good friend of mine was telling me a few weeks ago that the SIG Cross's are his favorite "production" rifles right now. They make the Cross PRS in 6.5cm and a 24'' barrel.

Wow, looks like i just needed to wait until everyone got back to work so they could get on pm again! Haha!

Im really thinkin about the seekins now after lookin around online a bit. Id really like the element for the weight and shorter bbl, but budget will prob only allow the ph2. Im not in a huge hurry to buy, but ill keep everyone posted. Thanks guys!

I got a cross in a 6.5 creed too. I actually really like the cross and its modularity. I like it so much that I just ordered a 22 creedmoor barrel for it and will have my wife use it for deer hunting and calling coyotes.

I also looked at the Cross but reviews shied me away from it also. Some say they shoot good and others not so good. I don't like spending money on a new rifle just to rebarrel it right off the bat. The problem with reviews, are the ones reviewing a capable shooter or just wanna be's and like to post video's?
