I hunted for a long time with red lights and I think I somehow managed to scare the [beeep] out of more coyotes than I called in. The problem with red lights around here is that there is no open areas to hunt, it's mostly thick woods. I can tell you with certainty, you turn on a red light when a coyote is standing 50yds away and you will be amazed at how fast it can disappear.
I now use thermal and GEN 3 night vision. The only light I bring is a IR light and I don't even like using that.
Red lights can most definitely be effective, but, just not so much in the kind of terrain I'm forced to hunt in.
Just like NoName, I don't think I would be doing a whole lot of night hunting if I had to use lights again.
