Red Sharpie Trick

I was looking , but could not find a red lense for my spot light. I was going to try some of that red glass stain paint. I happen to see this forum tonight, I'll have to try coloring mine.

I use the red sharpie on the lens. Put one coating on and left it dry, then went over it again. Seems to work fairly decent... now only if I could find some stuff to shine it at.

The red sharpie trick does work. What I used was a "marks-alot" marker. I took the back of the marker off and dropped the ink holder out, then squeezed a few drops of pure ink on the lense. I put the marker back together and used the writing end to spread the ink around, it was kind of self leveling. Do it quick because the ink dries fast. You end up with a clear red piece of glass. I had the afore mentioned marker on hand and it was easier that sourcing Dykem, but I imagine the results are about the same.

I just tried the red sharpie squeezed it out onto the lens, and brushed it around. It worked great, but just alittle messy.
