Red Sharpie Trick

I have heard that red light does not bother coyotes of other animals at all especially compared to white light.

You would be better off though using red plexiglass or plain red plastic to make a lens out of and just use duct tape to attach it.

Wont the plastic wrap stuff melt over a hot 2 million power spot light?

That's what I'm thinking too. My spot light puts out some serious heat.

There is no way it wouldn't melt on you. You can't hold your hand over it for more than a few seconds. Unless of course you have a light to find them with and you only need 2-5 seconds to pull the trigger.

White light DOES work for night time calling, it's just a matter of learning to use the light properly. Check out early writings by fellas like dougherty, burnhams, tinsley.
I used a white light for years in the late 70's to early 80's successfully, before I learned I HAD to use a red light to be successful.
Predators may not be as sensitive to a red light, which buys you a few extra seconds, but if you think they CAN'T see that red light, try burning a coyote with the center beam of that 2mill cp red lens at 50 yards, and see what happens, lol.

just go to Walmart and buy the 2 or 3 million candle Q-Beam spotlight. It comes with a blue, yellow, and red lens. Also comes with car charger, wall charger, and two recharger batteries. Pretty slick deal all for 40 dollars. Love mine.

Patterson is right that is what I just bought and am having modified to mount onto my scope for some night hunting. It is going to be awesome. With the 2 or 3 million candle watt power you should be ablew to see easily 250-350 yards even with the red filter on it.

I got the spray can (red). Works great on my light which is a sealed beam.

Red Dykem

This is the light I use. There is no reason to use a 1 or 2 million candle power light. These 50,000-100,000 candle power lights will light up a critter way farther than you can shoot it.

We use these for deer spotlight counts as well. If you sit and shine a spot for 20 minutes with 2 million candle power light, you may be walking to the next stand.

You won't have any problem with these, and they are pretty tough, and don't wear you out holding it like some of those heavy lights.

It has a replacable bulb that you buy at most auto parts stores if it does blow out. I have a bulb that I have put the red dykem on, and the normal clear one. That way I can switch them out depending on what I need it for.

I just started knight calling, red sharpie has worked realy good /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif. I bought a 500,000 candle power from harbor frieghts for $4.00. I took a ziplock baggy and colored both sides of it, and taped it on the outside of the light. If i need to use the white light for any reason, i just take the baggy off. The light is very lightweight, i realy like it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Im with Three 44s and Yellowhammer on the Dykem. It's not had to take the lense out and give it 2-3 coats. I have 3 lights I keep around(1 is getting pretty bad). I'd think it would be a lot easier than putting plastic wrap on and you dont have to worry about it tearing or coming off. A can will run you about $10 but will last for however many lights you'd ever feel like doing. Thats just one guys opinion.

I used a 100,000 Candle Power for many years, when hunting in the thick, I had a 35,000 CP light.

Those big lights sure drain a battery, and I had two batteries for the 100,000 light.

You sure spook more coyotes way out there using those big lights, also the halo will light up you and every other thing around you.

I always used a red lens, and dark red plexiglass lens, the darker it is, the more the color is in the spectrum that they find hard to see.

if you go to walmart you can get the red dividers.. the ones kids use for school and cut out your own circle..thats what i did and you cant tell the difference.. there see through red of course.

Automotive stores like autozone sell tape to repair broken tail lights. Cost very little, Its thick and ghas adhesive already.
