What's the best way to stretch and dry cased out red squirrel? Granted, not a major money item, but hey, there is a market. Thought I'd put some in with my yotes and coons.
cut the tail off of him and mail it to the mepps lure company and get you a free spinner. take that spinner to the lake and catch a crappie to eat. skin the squirrel and fry him up with the crappie take the skin and tack it to a tree in the woods with a # 2 coilspring catch a bobcat. skin the bobcat and sell it for $100.00 go and buy some beer......then grab your mepps and head back to the lake!
Interesting take- but I don't trap, only call. I'm not really in it for the money, but the coouple pelts I get in the fall helps support my ammo habit.
I don't know about you guys, but if you could get even a quarter for a red squirrel pelt a guy near where I deer hunt could make enough money to buy at least a couple cases of beer. The annoying little b@#tards are everywhere!
Whats the best way to trap them?
Tightline, I can't say that I've ever seen a stretcher small enough for a squirrel. That don't mean they aren't around.
You might have to make something if your planning on putting up some squirrel fur this year.
I just turn them inside out and pull them over one of the rounded corners of a wire clothes hanger. You can adjust the width easily to fit particular squirrels, and fit two to a hanger. I usually put a small block of wood, dice size or more, inside on the fur side to hold it a little open for air circulation, they dry in about 1 day. also pull the nose over the rounded end and if desired put one or two stitches around the top and bottom lip to hold the mouth right. Works great;-)...just hang them in YOUR side of the closet /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
