Redding .223 series A die set

Hello,

First off, some background: A few months back I purchased this die set from Sportsmans Warehouse because I had a 15% off coupon. I was at home inspecting the resizer die and the decaper was off center about 1/16th of an inch so I returned the set for a new one, no big deal. I returned home and found that the new set had the same problem, so I decided to spin the expander/decaping rod in my drill press to test for straightness. Guess what? Out of straight.

FF to today: I thought I would at least try to see if they would work. I tumbled the brass clean, lubed with Hornady’s One Shot, and lubed the case necks and mouths with RCBS’s case mouth lubricant. The first 11 rounds were very hard to resize even after adjusting accordingly. The 12th round I had a stuck case, and this sucker is stuck forever. I tried RCBS’s stuck case remover, to no avail, just mangled the snot out of the case. This was from the Winchester white box brass. I don’t know what is holding this case in the die, but I’m not about to waste my time on potentially junk product. I’ve reloaded WW for my 22-250 plenty of times with Lee dies and never had them resize that hard and the one stuck case (22-250)was my fault.

I am calling Redding tomorrow to find out what they can do about it. I’m sure they will remedy my problem, hopefully. If not, there will be a free Redding die set available to anyone who can find it in my pasture.

The Redding die set caught my eye because of the price; I didn’t have a lot of money to throw at reloading supplies at the time, but I wanted to buy a “quality” name brand set, guess I was wrong.

Thanks for letting me blow off some steam.

I am sure Redding will make everything good. Call them and explain what happened and they will probably want you to send everything to them.

Redding dies are normally first class.
