Been thinking of a Redfield Widefield 1 3/4 x 5 excellant condition with ruger system rings. Anyone familiar with the scope and what it's value might be? Any help you can give will be appreciated. Thanks
I don't have any personal experience with Redfield, but I just read a great review about them in American Rifleman. It wasn't the Widefield model, but they are backed up by a lifetime warranty and Leupold runs the company.

The older Redfields did have a lifetime warantee WHEN the original Redfield company was in business. Redfield was sold a couple of times and the original company has been out of business for some time.
The new Redfields are produced by Leupold and are waranteed by Leupold.
Leupold WILL NOT do any warantee work on the older Redfields.
If it is truely a Widefield, great scope. No idea where to get them worked on if need be. I have a 1-4x Redfield that's about 40yrs old and still works great!
For the new ones they're leupold fully coated optics with a warranty until the end of time. Price is amazing for the quality and leupy optics, just ordered a 3-9 for my new rifle.

Iron Sight, Inc. (918) 445-2001
I contacted them around 1 yr. ago, and they wanted around 80 bucks to go thru a 6x scope. If I remember right, Leopold Redfield will give you 40 bucks off for any old Redfield, in any condition, if you buy there new one.
