Refurbished Scopes?

How about some feedback on refurbished scopes from places like Natchez? Good bad or ugly?

I bought a refurbished Nikon Monarch from Natchez about a year ago (4-12X40). So far no problems with the scope. Just be aware that (for the Nikon refurbs at least) - they only come with a 90 day warranty versus the normal lifetime waranty of a new one. I was told that Nikon keeps a records of the serial numbers of the scopes that they factory refurbish so they can tell when a scope comes in for service if it was a refurb (don't know if this is true or not though). Hope this helps.

I almost bought one a few years back and they had stamped the letter "R" infront of the serial number. No question about whether or not it was a refurb since the identicle non-refurb did not have the "R".
