My thought is that the Sierra reload data starts higher (charge weight) for an AR Rifle because of the pressure required to make it cycle properly.I was not aware of this when I first started reloading and with my .223 Remington I never experienced any problems using the minimum loads (starting grains) with any bullet powder combination. However when I started reloading the larger (R25 in .243 Win.)I did have problems (short stroking) ocasionally at the suggested starting point. If I remember correctly (sometimes I dont)I did compare the data in the Sierra load guide and the Max charge weight was the same AR vs Bolt Action.I could be totally off base on this so feel free to correct me, like I said this was my thought.
