Rem 700 Factory Ammo

I picked up a Rem 700 in .243 Win for my son to hunt with a few months ago. Given he was just going to hunt with the rifle I was hoping to find a factory round that the gun liked so I didn't have to reload for it. I have bought factory ammo a few times in the last 20 years and that was only for the brass while never concerned about accuracy. So has anyone fed a factory R700 factory ammo that it liked and would like to share.

I reload but my son-n-law runs these with around MOA accuracy at 100:

Hornady 95gr sst Superformance
Hornady 90 gr ELD-X
Hornady 100gr American Whitetail

Accuracy varied, but a lot of Whitetail, etc has been taken with the Remington 100gr Core-Lokt.

I just finished working up a load using the Nosler AccuBond 90 gr for a friend who bought an older Winchester Model 70 for his daughter. The load I worked up shoots extremely well but having said that, Nosler has factory ammo for the 243 using the same 90 gr AccuBond bullet.

Based on how my reloads shot using this bullet I would not hesitate to recommend trying the same bullet in a factory load.

+1for the factory corelokt Remington. My nephew has used 100 grain blue box federal factory.243 last couple years. They do well too.

No guarantees, but Federal factory ammo shoots extremely well out of my 22-250.
I would give the Federal a try in the 100gr SP, and also the Remington 100 gr core-lokt, both the SP and the core lokt have been used to harvest many big game animals before the modern premium bullets arrived on the scene. Both brands should be readily available, I would say buy a box of each and go from there, if they both group about the same, than I would just go with the one that is the easiest to find, which would probably be the Remington.

My brother has the 700 ADL in .243 and so does my nephew. My son has the 700 ADL Youth in .243 I got him when he was a kid... all three seem to shoot the factory Core-Lock ammo (100 gr.) around 1.25/1.5 MOA if I remember correctly... on occasion my brother gets right at MOA.

I think the factory Core-Lock is more than good enough for hunting.
