I found a piece of brass with this stamp on the bottom. I thought it looks similar to my 6MM case. They are the same case. Remington changed the name to 6MM (1963) when they changed rifling to 1/9 from 1/12 twist to accommodate heavier bullets. The 244 cartridge was good only up to 90 grs. with 1/12 twist. I thought this was interesting information since I have been shooting 6MM for many years. Rudy

Now if you find a cartridge marked 6x57 circa 1895 it will look pretty much the same also.

It was neat to step out of the truck on a look out point and find this cartridge. Put it through the tumbler and it looks brand new. It had been laying there a long time!

Thanks Rudy ! I got that rifle (6mm )and several boxes of 244 on my 16 th birthday. We reloaded those cases on and on ,I might still have a few.

I have 2 6MM's and I gave a custom 6MM to my oldest son. He always loved that gun and cartridge. He takes very good care of it. Rudy
