OK everyone I tried doing a search on PM and on google and found nothing to help me out. I have a Remington 700 ADL .243 that I use for long range coyote hunting and for the first time this year I am going to use it to deer hunt. It has the cheap plastic Remington stock and I cant take the stock anymore. I hate the solid black and the hollow echo sound it has. I need some advice on a good aftermarket stock. I have looked at H-S Precision and they are a little more then what I want to spend right now. I have also looked at the Bell & Carlson Carbelite stock in tan with black webbing. I really like this color combo but I don't know anything about the stock. Can someone help me out here. Changing the gun over to a BDL is not out of the question...then I could get more options stock wise. Does anyone have any good reports for aftermarket stock they put on their Remington ADL or BDL? Thanks

P.S. Laminate is another option I am thinking about.

H-S precision stocks are very hard to beat, but they are a bit pricy. If you buy one and sell the gun, you can always keep the stock and use it on another project. Hogue makes a couple in the $90. to $130. range that are pretty good also, but they are also black and not to attractive. Have a Boyds on a vz24, with a little bedding it turned out really cool. Just a few off the top of my head, hope it helps.

I'll probably catch he77 for mentioning this but Rem.700 stocks sell cheap on Ebay. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

If you switch it over to BDL configuration I would HIGHLY recommend the Hogue OverMolded Stock. I love those stocks!

I realy, realy wish they made them for the ADL I would buy several!

Anyone from Hogue listening???????????????????????????????

sumrifle I would have to agree with ya. I really like the looks of the OD green Hogue stocks. I think it would look good with my matte black barrel. I think I might buy the bottom metal for my ADL and then get the Hogue stock. Do you ever have any problems with the stock staying dirty since it has that rubber like coating? Thanks

coyoteman23,i own one of the ADL 243's. Most of my clinks came from the sling swivels hitting the stock. What i done,is put one of those little round stick on patches that you buy for on the bottom of chairs, tables, and etc. Put one before and after the swivel. It will take the clink out, from the swivels hitting the stock. I wouldn't considder changing my stock,it shoots dime size groups as it is.

I started out with a rem stock 700 bdl dm stock, bedded the forearm 6",the cut and filled the rear of the stock with a 2 part liquid plastic formula we use in casting reliefs,I embedded the needed hardware in the plastic when poured and used a limbsaver buttpad to make my own custom fit adjustable stock for my 700.It now has a very solid feel and fits me properly. After all the mods I sprayed the entire stock with a duracoat like bedliner for a nice grippy texture and camoed it with automotive paint and spray paint highlights.

hello..i'm not happy with the adl stock myself...i had my action bedded & the darn thing shoot's good so i won't mess with it..for now anyway...i filled the buttstock with sprayfoam..it feel's firmer & eliminated the "tingy" sound..
