Remington 700 Magazine Problem

I have purchased a Remington 700 short action .243 caliber. The magazine follower is not working properly. It almost looks like it is too long. Is there a difference in dimensions for the follower and the magazine box? It is hitting in the front and won't allow it to go up in front. And it doesn't look like there is room in the back for it to move back. Any suggestions?

Sound like you got a Wyatt out doors follower inside a remington box
There are 4 different boxes for short action
223 and it's buddys (17fb has a blocking back)

308 plane Jane (wsm is bulged but look like a 308)

Wyatt out doors all tab removed longer box by about .100(center feed wsm and br)

Wyatt big cut 3.250 col way modified
Pitcher is worth 1000s of wards

I did some adjusting on the spring and got it to work. I ran into another problem. Someone installed a side bolt release. I really like it, but they installed it too far forward. It doesn't allow the bolt to go rearward enough to pick up the next cartridge from the magazine. My two options are to redrill the receiver and move the side bolt release back to proper position or install factory bolt release. I am inclined to install factory bolt release lever and spring to cure this problem. Any ideas where I could get a factory bolt release lever and spring? It doesn't appear to be a lot of work to install them. Thanks!

Sounds like it was originally set up for the 223 rounds and someone tried to make a 243 out of it. Whew, sounds like a mess and not to many options to repair it. Maybe convert it back to a 223 or similar. Something with a very short case. A functioning rifle will bring more than one with a bunch of issues. Might be worth talking to a smith to see of can be repaired or modified without costing a fortune.

Take a pitcher I will help point you in right drection.I probly got the box you need I send it for shipping cost .
I got a whole box full rem boxes and followers .
Just factory but better than nothing
Thanks cody

You might sell the timney and get one with a bolt release and abandon the side release. I've never had a problem with the 700 bottom release.

I need to talk to you. I bought a 67' ADL .270 that is beautiful, except it won't feed cartridges no matter what I do with it. In fact, it usually ejects them clear of the gun as soon as the bolt pushes them a smidge.

Does the bot pass over
Or make contact with back of case
Pitchers would help
Pull out of stock
Pitcher of mag box and follower
270 should have tab for ADL screw
Follower shap might not stagger the case the corect amount .
But pitcher worth a 1000 words on feeding problems
Thanks cody
