Shopping for a "walkin predator" rifle and so far the Rem 700 SPS 24' barrel in .223 fits my needs. My other .223 are 1-9 twist as shoot .55 well & 60's MOA. So how does this Remmy handle the .55 gr pills as plan to shoot .55 v-max's in it?

It is fine for 55gr plastic tip bullets.

Curious...why would you go to a 12 twist if you have a 9 twist?

I have the SPS-V in .223 and it loves the 55's. 60's not so much.

I have the standard 24in sps in 223 stainless very handy rifle shoots 55 vmax ok 3/4 1 in but shoots the heck out of the 53s and tac

My RRA Coyote is 1-9 shoots the 60 V's sub moa but 55's moa but Ar heavy looking for lighter handy rifle since have lots of 55's hope to use them in 700 SPS rather than testing other bullets with bullets so hard to find these days.

Picked up one of the rem 700 SPS sporter ADL's in 223 about two months ago from wally world. Because of all the panic buying I have not had the chance to run any factory 55's through it but have shot a bunch of 55gr. nosler varmagedon and hornady v-max handloads through it.

The noslers are grouping in the low .6's over BLC-2 and the hornadys are in the mid and low .5's over BLC-2 also. once everything returns to normal and I can restock my stash of benchmark powder I will be giving it a try.

Also I did float the barrel, adjust the trigger, and bed the recoil lug as soon as I bought the rifle. Rifle shoots federal american eagle 50 gr. ballistic tips in the mid .7's.
