I am not much of a Remington user I won last night at Burlington Conservation Gun Club dinner a Remington 700 BDL Classic in a 270 caliber. Any comments other than it looks nice in the box! Looking for positive as well as negative comments. Thanks.

You have won a very nice rifle! Remington 700's are noted for exceptional accuracy out of the box as well. Again, you have done very good in my opinion.

The gun is real close to a 7mm mag. I was never a Rem fan in rifles either until I got a 700 vls. So how much you want for the dog?

Agree with all comments above the 700 is a proven accuracy, reliabilty, looks. one of the best bang for the bucks rifle as far as im concerend. The resale value on the 700s hold high vs some others out there. Lots of after market options as well if you ever wanted to build a coustom you have a great donor action to do it with. And being in the 270 cal you are able to hunt about anything north america has to offer. Recoil is very managable and the 270 shoots flat. You got your self a nice rifle. I love the looks of the 700 delux they have the old time classic high gloss wood and high gloss blueing

A lot of people like to pick on Rem.

I don't honestly know why, I suppose its a combination of picking on the guy on top, and some sub par performance issues. Personally I suspect is more the former rather then the later.

Look at it this way, its a free rifle, and a free rifle that will most likely shoot well, and if it doesn't a free long action Rem is a great starter for the build of your choice.

Like them or not, for what ever reason, the 700 has become the chevy small block of the rifle world. It may not be the best but there ar so many being worked on, that ever conceivable part has been made for one.

Good luck, and of it needs a new home PM me.

My buddy has the same gun in a 25-06 and I was just telling him last week how good looking I thought the BDL Classics were and still are. Yes, the finish is to glossy and the blueing is to shiney but dogonit, they're just supposed to look that way and I hope Remington will always have that model in their lineup.

Kudos on winning a great rifle.
Have fun with your new gun!!!

Thanks to all who replied. I feel real good about this gun. I'll order the brass and dies so I can take it out and work up some loads. Looks like I'll have some fun and on a $20 chance........
