Remington 742 semi-auto trigger assembly change

I'm looking for advice. I'm hoping to take the trigger assembly from my .308 and exchange it with my 30.06 because one has a lef-handed safety. I just want to switch the trigger assembly to the gun I want to use. They seem to be interchangeable. But, before I kill myself, I want to know if they really are interchangeable.
Do you know?
Thanks for your help!

I believe that if you pull the trigger assembly out you will find you can change the safety and put the same one back in the same gun. Problem solved..........

I have an assembly here some where and I will look at mine.

On one gun, I changed the safety to left-handed 39 years ago. It's easier to just change the assembly if that is possible.

Push out the two pins and you will know in five minutes. I am betting they are identical. I just bought parts for one to repair the bolt release and don't recall the assembly being caliber specific.

Well, it didn't work. One assembly is stamped 15, the other 16. One assembly goes into both guns easily, the other only goes into one gun. Not quite a match on the pin holes. I guess I'll be switching the safeties!
Thanks for your help, tho.

OOPS! That won't work. Each assembly has a different location for the safety spring. One on the right, one on the left.I've switched things a couple times now and have not lost a part yet (as he knocks on wood "knock, knock, knock").
It's all back together like I started. I'll see if my instructions are any help (yes, I still have them from 1968!)
Your input is still welcome.
