Has anyone used the Remington Accelerator 55gr. bullets for a 30-06. I found a box that were my dads and I can't find much info on them. All i know is they are for varmints.

I have shot some in 308... not sure why Remington started making them again in 30-30 and 30-06 but not 308... They will shoot 2-3" groups at 100 yards.
They would be fine for a rancher that wants to shoot coyote out to 200 yards or so and does not want another rifle. On the other hand I like a rifle that will group better and is more taylored for the situation.

The plastic sabot also makes a mess out the rifleing in your gun. My uncl used to shoot them out of his .30-30 when the need arose.

I tried the factory ones in my 30-06. Accuracy at 100 yards was terrible. I don't remember what the exact pattern was, but it wasn't good enough for me to go yote hunting with. SO I bought a hundred sabots and a 100 55 grain match grade hollow point, boat tail bullets. Looked up the reloading charge and proceeded to try and find an accurate load for them. Well after many loads I honestly can say I didn't find any that were even repeatable. So gave up on the accelerators. Decided to use 110 grain 30-06 with reduced charges. Thats until I found a 223/12ga. Then went and bought an Obama AR-15. So now I'm good to go except for physical disabilities which I hope will be over soon.

Here's wishing you good hunting.

They were a gimmick back in the 1970's while they do send that 55 grn bullet downrange they are also very inaccurate even with in 100 yards. For a 30-06 (witch I used for years, as I could only afford one rifle and had to get multipul use from it) I found that the 30 cal 125 grn TNT bullets from Speer loaded to 3200 fps worked very well on Coyotes and were down right devistateing on prarie dogs and they were pretty accurate out to 200 yards or so, much better than the accelerators anyway.
