So is the Remington Accu tip bullet a hornady v-max or a nosler ballistic tip made for remington or is it something else?

Thanks

I have some here and they look like a Remington product.. The only real resemblance is the plastic tip, which is puke green.. As far as i know Rem makes em..

why would a company that makes ammo pay some other company to make thier ammo for them? it is purely remmingtom jumping on the fast growing coyote hunting craze. Like Patternmaster choke tubes, Now that coyote hunting is becoming so popular they are now the predator population control specialits, they wasn't before. and Nikon, with thier coyote special scope. and T/C (predator rifle) and Remington (R-15). They are going where the money is.

t/c223encore.

I think Remington makes the bullet now but I do remember when Nosler supplied the bullets to Remington for there factory BT rounds..

Like said by wildwv said nosler did make them for remington. And T/C winchester has nosler make some of there bullets so explain that one. Heres another example federal. They load several different makers bullets in there brass.

Remington's AccuTips V are Hornady V-Max bullets (just a different colored tip). When Remington introduced the 17 Fireball in 2007 their factory ammo was loaded with 20 gr. AccuTip V's (Hornady V-Max's).

In the case of the 17 HMR not only Hornady loads the 17 gr. V-Max but it is also used by Winchester, Remington and Federal. CCI uses Speer 17gr. TNT bullets for their 17 HMR ammo.

they are made at GI Nebraska and a different colored tip is put on them. I asked a engineer buddy who works at hornaday. So yes they are a vmax with a different tip. HAPPY HUNTING

So... I guess the 95 gr AccuTips I have are Hornady SST's? If thats the case, then should the load data be the same? If I have a AccuTip and an SST loaded the same, they should shoot exactly the same, right. Why do companies do this stuff to us!

I am guessing it is about making money.

Remington for a time was loading swift bullets in some of their offerings and labeling them as swifts.

Probably made offers to some companies to buy some determined X amount of bullets from the companies with a green tip or whatever specs at such and such price. It would be a way to get a product in a manner less expensive than re-tooling one of their current facilities to make it themselves.

The bullet manufacturer was presented an opportunity to make some profit they may not have had a chance at otherwise, and had the time and capability to do it at so said OK.

Both companies have an opportunity to make out a little better than if they didn't do it... In this case Rem stands more risk than the bullet maker because they have to hope that they sell at the price they want, or at least high enough to cover costs.

But most of us would probably prefer that they call a spade a spade rather than go with the "can 'em and confuse 'em" method,

For probably the majority here it don't matter as they load their own anyway.

All I know is that the Remington Accutip V Ammo 55 gr in 223 shoots well as does the Hornady Vmax in 55 grain in 223 cal.

I have shot them both side by side and they are both my favorite shells to shoot in my AR15 Ambush Firearms 5.56.

And I use a Nikon Scope too. But I also shoot some of the Remington Accutip V boat tails 55 gr in 223 cal in my friends High Standard AR which has a 16" barrel with a 1/9 twist and they grouped very well. And I used two rifle scopes on this AR15 to shoot tight groups. The first was a Gamo 4x32 scope and the other was a Nikon 4 x 16 x 42 M-223 with a BDC 600 reticle in it. I used both these scopes on the High Standard AR15 and the Nikon only on my new Ambush Firearms 5.56 AR15.

The only type of ammo that I didn't like in either gun was the Remington PSP ammo 55 grain 223. The tips are soft lead and deform easily making for some fliers IMHO.

The Remington UMC 55 gr in 223 shots good in my Ambush Firearms 5.56 AR15 too.

But I'm wanting more of the Remington Accutip V 55 gr in 223 right now and can't find it in the stores. I wish that they would make more of this stuff as I really like it.

I've been buying the Hornady 55 grain 223 with the polymer tips as I can't find anymore of the Rem stuff. I'm talking about the PRA223RC stuff. I also have some Rem PRA223HP that shoots pretty good though both my AR15 ambush at 1/7 twist 18" long barrel and the High Standard AR15 at 1/9 twist with 16 long barrel.

Note: the tips on the Remington Premier Accutip have a copper or gold colored plastic tip insert not green. The Zombi ammo that's actually the same thing as the Hornady is the puke green color. I had a guy at Gander Mountain show me that the ballistics info on the ammo box was the exact same for the Hornady 223 55 grain V max and the Zombi 55 grain 223 stuff.
