Remington Etronx 22-250????

Did the OP resurrect his own 20 year old EtronX thread here?

Just watched a pretty good youtube video on the etronx. It kind of layed out everything from what they are, how they work, and there place in history. If I remember right, the value wasn't any more than a regular 700. May just do a youtube search and see if its there somewhere.

I don't remember posting about an Etronx 20 yrs ago but I don't live in the past either. That being said, A friend/dealer had one at a show today and was selling it. Claimed it had a broken firing pin spring and wouldn't fire. He also claims he didn't know it was an Etronx and thought it was just a broken 700. I have parts to fix a 700 but after some research, I don't think the Etronx even use a firing pin spring. Pretty much all electronic discharge. Its a nice rifle but after some checking on parts to convert to a standard style rifle, I don't think there would be much meat left on the bone. It requires a complete new bolt assembly and trigger. Prices on the internet ranged from $600-$1400. After adding a bolt and trigger even breaking even would be hard and it still has Etronx on the action.

The EytonX is a relic that died 20 years ago, and electronic primers are rarer than dinosaur eggs. It was just another Remington wet dream that helped run their successful offerings off the road.

Went back today with parts to repair a broken spring. I think the owner is hoping for someone that doesn't know better. I really think he knows what he has. Wrong stock, even though it was an HS Precision, it had no key hole for ignition on/off. He said it had a Timney, but not being able to pull it out of the stock, who knows? Not sure if the bolt has been changed or not either. He's asking $800 for a pig in a poke. It was a nice "looking" rifle and with some $$ it would make a nice looking and probably nice shooter but I had to walk away on this one.
