Remington Model 7 Predator .223

Bought one a few years ago and i have nothing but good to say about it. Only thing i did was adjust the trigger. I initially shot barnes 36 grain out of it and killed a few critters then switched to some sierra 52hpbt which shoot good also. I am satisfied with it. There was some discussion on what twist they had whether it was 1/12 or 1/9, i honestly dont remember what mine is, been in the safe for a year.good luck

I have one of the older ones with a 12 twist. Shoots really well, light to carry, and quick handling. Paired it with a VX-2 3-9x40 German 4 reticle. It’s probably my favorite bolt gun to take when I do some walking.

Maybe 2 years ago I bought Model 7 Predator rifles in 243 Win and 223 Rem, basically for the actions, since the price I paid was so low. Out of curiosity after hearing good reports on them, I put scopes on each rifle just to see how well they shot.

I still have both rifles, they still have scopes on board, and I have no plans to part them out for the actions. Both are very accurate.

btw - the 223 Rem that I have has a 1 in 9" twist barrel.

Love mine. Great price. Mine's 1x9. Shoots 40 through 77 gr pellets very well.

Getting the barrel shortened and threaded for a suppressor soon, and putting a NV scope on it.

I just bought one in 243 with hopes on making it my new go to. I had it threaded and cerakoted. Got a Timney and H-S stock for it. Hope to get to the range as soon as I can inlet the stock or exchange for the varmint model. The "magnum" barrel is a touch big for the sporter style stock H-S makes for them. Really liking the looks of it! I'll update when some primers are popped.

Originally was going 12 inches but decided I didnt want to go through the NFA paperwork hassle so 16 inches it shall be. Morgan Richey/Class 3 Machining Rowlett, TX. Good folks with fast turnaround.

Mine shipps out tomorrow to have the word done. Once back, I'll work up loads and check accuracy and see if it'll still shoot 77's. Even if not, I gotta go suppressed for night time work around here and it'll get the job done.

Love my suppressed AR for night hunting, but I've never needed a quick follow up shot and I just like bolt guns.

I picked up 800 rounds of Nosler 40gr BT ammo during their holiday sale, and it shoots mighty fine in that rifle. Advertised as 3700fps which is purty darn fast. Havent chrono'd it yet. Might be my go-to ammo for those pesky yotes around here

Can you post pictures when you get it back? I’m interested to see how it looks at the intersection of the threads and fluting.
I have a YHM Turbo in ATF purgatory and looking for a host and keep circling between the Model Seven Predator and the Ruger American Predator. The Remington just speaks to me but, alas and as you are aware, not suppressor ready.

Thanks Burnsome for the pic. I've been thinking about sending my 17FB Predator out for threading and worried a little how it would look. Dave

Interesting that Remington 223 barrels in M7 are 1/9 but all the different M700's are 1/12 twist. And the Swift and 22-250 are 1/14.

Happy to report I got my 243 model seven all finished, broke in the barrel and it shot fantastic!

Hornady Superformance 58 grain VMax was cloverleaf's and the Nosler Dogtown 70 grain shot about .6"! Again that is with an H-S and a timney.

Burnsome, Could you post a picture where we could see the whole rifle.
Just picked up a 223 Predator myself.
I think I want the barrel shortened to 18" but not sure.
