Remington R15 or Bushmaster 24 Bull Barrel

I can only speak about the Bushmaster trigger and mine was pretty good right out of the box. Later I sent the trigger off and had it worked on and now it's even better.

If I remember right, both the R15 and Bushmaster are owned and made by the same company from the same components. I have the Bushmaster Optics Ready Carbine and mine is very accurate but you'll have to test different cartridges to see which is the most accurate out of your gun.

You can always order the parts you want and build one yourself to get exactly what you want. That's what I did with my 6.8 SPC.

I also recommend you forget about the bull barrel on any AR if you're mostly going to be carrying it a lot and hunting with it, too heavy. Been there done that. A 16" flat top with a medium profile barrel is about perfect.

+1 to that

I had a R15 for awhile with an 18" barrel and it was a good shooter and hunting rifle- sold it during a financial crunch but have recovered thankfully.

R15 Remington is made by bushmaster 1 in the same just about.
I have owned 4 R15s, darn accurate, trigger is like all the other stock AR15 triggers, heavy & junk!
Replace with a timney or JP spring kit and you will be amazed over the difference.
I wont own an AR15 w/a barrel shorter than 18" & IMO a 20" standard barrel is perfect for coyote to antelope/deer. Forget the bull or heavy varmint barrels if its going to be carried all the time.

I carry the 24" R-15 for coyote hunting, personally I like a longer tube and don't mind the heft. If you are worried about the weight, buy a sling.

I really like the rifle overall, it shoots all of my 50-55gr handloads under 1 moa. Trigger could be better though. And like others already mentioned Bushmaster and theR-15 are one and the same.

I went with the R15 in .223, 18" barrel, and collapsible stock. Put in a 3# Timney trigger. I wanted a gun I can carry. If it's too heavy it ends up staying in the safe. To me, this one is perfect.

Love mine as well but contemplating dropping from my 24" barrel to an 18 or smaller. Overall it's spot on and I run Hornaday vmax in either a 53 or 55gr through it with great results.

Yea, because DPMS isn't owned by Cerberus either, right?

To the OP: The R15 is a great gun. The best advice that can be given for purchasing any style of AR is to pick a configuration that suits you. If you want a bull bbl, then buy one. Never ran ino a bad AR, and you didn't mention anything about marching off into combat, so pick one out and customize it. That's what everybody else does.

ive had two r-15s. First one i had bill springfield do the trigger and it was nice. Cant complain. Second one i bought w a timney trigger already installed. LOVE IT... it will cloverleaf my reloads w no problem at 100 yds all day long. Both mine were 18 in models. well balanced and lightweight!
