Hey guys i'm not liking my trigger on the old 700 action is ok,
but just wondering will the new 700 adjustable trigger drop right in or is it different.
also if not what would you guys recomend, it's a 25-06 mountain rifle, just for deer and some
ocassional ground hogs out to 250 max. the trigger now breaks
good it's just a little heavy, i'm used to a 2.5 to a 3.5 this one feels like 5 or 6 lbs....Thanks.

I thought the old 700 had non adjustable triggers, I see no screws looking at the trigger while it's inside the rifle.
Yeah the new X mark i was thinking of switching out however i don't have one, the rifle i have is around 1993 or so i don't
know alot about remingtons i'm a ruger man sorry. i guess what i'm asking which way do i need to go with this rifle, i really
don't want to get used to this trigger pull, and just looking for options for a trigger, i know i can buy triggers for under $200,
but i see these new X marks take outs for sale for under $75 just wondering are they any better, will they work,or should i just keep what i have?

Sorry i don't know much about remingtons i will do some reasearch on the old triggers, I just thought i could get some quick info on here Thanks.

just google "Rem 700 trigger adjustment" you should be able to find all the info you need.

I know people who have xmarks on their bench that could be had for less than 75 bucks.

Are they better than the old style, no not really.

Sounds to me like which ever way you go, you should probably talk to a reputable gunsmith.

That Remington trigger will be fine once adjusted properly and will be the cheapest way to go. Get some help if your not comfortable doing it. Don't need any accidental discharge.

My 700 trigger was replaced with a Shilen. The other gun, with an 'X-Mark Pro' was replaced with a Timney. I didn't find the x-mark pro all that great, it also varied pull to pull on my trigger gauge. The next guy's mileage may vary.

FWI, I have also adjusted a few factory 700 triggers that came out O.K..

.

The trigger you have is very adjustable if it is a 1993 model. Any smith can tune it for a few bucks if you're not comfortable doing it. If you fully understand sear engagement, overtravel, and safety, then the google search suggested will work fine. I used the same search to adjust 4 or 5 so far. The old triggers were great, but not externally adjustable, meaning you must remove the stock.

On the model 700 VTR that I had the trigger was quite disappointing. A lot of things about that rifle were disappointing. I replaced it with a Shilen which was pretty good.

If your a Ruger guy, I'd put the Remington away and get a Ruger Hawkeye. The LC6 triggers are pretty good and fixing them is just a different spring away. Then you would have a great rifle that you didn't have to fool with or have many of the other problems the Remington's have

The only thing I did differently is instead of nail polish, I used blue locktite. The screws shouldn't turn unless you decide to make changes again. The 721/722 had the Walker trigger which is the same as the 700's, and there was no factory "nail polish" to remove from these.

Yep. And if it is still too heavy, the respring will do wonders. I've found having the adjustment screws as tight as possible, while still achieving the lighter trigger pull.
