Remington is having a cash back program on their Remington Wingmaster HD loads. It is $15.00 cash back per box for up to 10 boxes through Jan 15th of 2008. If any of you have shot any of the Remington Wingmaster HD loads, please let me know what you think of them. THANKS

I went ahead and got 10 boxes of the Remington Wingmaster HD loads. The Rem HD 3" BB loads patterned and penetrated much better than the Federal Premium 1-7/8 oz of copper plated lead loads do. I use the lead loads for coyotes but thought the duck and goose hunters might want to see the patterns and hear about the penetration on the Rem HD loads. This first picture is the Federal Premium 3" 1-7/8 oz of copper coated lead BB's shot through a Carlson's Dead Coyote choke at 40 yards. I counted 98 pellets in one of these 3" Federal Premium BB shells.

The second picture is the pattern from a Remington Wingmaster HD 3" BB load. I counted 73 pellets in the HD BB load.

I shot into three catalogs taped together to check for penetration and the Federal copper coated lead BB's penetrated through 89 pages to 127 pages of the first catalog. The Remington HD BB's completely penetrated the first catalog "355 pages" Most of the HD pellets were between the first and second catalog, some of the HD BB's made it to pages 27, 44 and 62 of the second catalog. So the Deepest penetrating HD BB pellet made it through 417 pages and the deepest penetrating Fed lead BB only went through 127 pages. The copper coated lead BB's were all mangled up compared to the hard round HD BB's that I removed from the catalogs. I also shot the catalogs with Rem HD T shot and they penetrated 585 pages.

Waterfowlers have to use steel shot, and the results are problaby going to be different.

Waterfowlers have to use non-toxic shot. That doesn't absolutely mean steel. The HD is a non-toxic shot that is approved by the USFWS. There are many more such as Hevi-Shot, Bismuth, ect. All of which work better than steel.

Randy,
Thanks, but there are a lot of good contributions to that thread. The penetration test of Bob's is a great example of that. The old saying "Two heads are better than one..." is in play on the shotgun thread with good contributions from a bunch of guys. Hopefully we'll see some real definitive results and be able to arrive at some solid conclusions as we keep the thread alive with ongoing and up to date info. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Thanks for posting that Bob, now if they would just come down in price some, I'd buy some..... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

Dogboy, I ordered 10 boxes from my son's gun shop and sent in everything to Remington to get the $15.00 cash back per box from Remington. I just checked on Remington's web-site and they are saying they sent me a $150.00 check on 11/8/07. I live right in the middle of the Condor Zone so I think I will have to be shooting lead free ammo at coyotes in July of 2008.
