Anyone here have one of these Rem. XR-100 rifles? If so- what is your opinion of this piece? Is she accurate? worth the money?

The XR100 is made with the XP100 action, single shot, heavy barrel, with a 40X trigger. Should be an excellent shooter but I haven't actually shot one myself. Going price seems to be about $700 which I think is a good price.

Have 2 of these in 204 Ruger and both shoot very well. have freinds with one with 223 other 204 & are quite happy with them. Myself not a real fan of thumbhole stocks but sure doesn't keep gun from shooting well.

Read some articles on the rifle. From what I've seen, in my opion, the guns are not shooting that tight of groups you would expect out a "target" called rifle. I read they were shooting inch plus groups at a 100 yards. You'd be better off with one of their composite full aluminum bedded block stocks(vs or sendero type) accuracy wise. Remington has advertised that since its a single shot without a magazine its going to be a good tight shooting rifle. Well nothing is going to shoot good in an unbedded stock. Its a great rifle Remington just marketed more for looks than function. If Remington would have pillar bedded this rifle or through it in an HS stock it would have gotten better, tighter grouping results. If you decide you want one the first thing I would do is bed the thing with accraglass or have it pillar bedded. Think this one would a great rifle if sitting on an aluminum bedded stock but should have came with one for the money. My 2cts worth.

Contrary to what 243ME has heard I've found that most of the rifles are shooting under or near the 1/2 inch mark out of the box. I have the rifle in a .22-250 and like it and it shoots great. Have thought about buying a second in .223 or .204. Check this PM search thread for more information. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I did not care for the thumbhole stock until I got it in my hands. It seemed to be custom made for me.

I've had one in 204 for over a year now & love it. It holds a consistant third minute out to 500 yds. I stuck a 4-16 meuller scope with the mil dot on it and at 16x if I sight it 1.5" high at 200 its right on at 300 and the first mildot is right on at 400. Makes an awfully nice PD gun

I have it in a 22-250. I shoot 36gr Varget, 55gr v-max moly. It will shoot 5 shot groups 1/4 to 3/8" @ 100. At 200 they open to 1/2 to 3/4. The trigger is adjusted to break cleanly at 2lbs. I love it.
I have been trying new loads with nosler 55gr bt and CT (nosler) 50gr. The 50gr seem to hold about 1/2 to 5/8 groups. The gun is fairly heavy to carry around.(but thats what you get with a target gun) Other than that shoots great, i'd buy it over again.

Huntnpa, Let me be the first to welcome you to Predator Masters.

I plan to work up loads for mine this spring and will be starting with the Sierra and Hornady bullets. Sierra is my go to bullet for establishing a baseline of accuracy, but will give the VMax a chance on groundhogs as it comes highly recommended.

I think I will be getting the 223 then a 204 if the first one works out...What bases & rings are you guys using. I'm a big fan or the 20MOA one piece steel weaver bases that most sniper rifles use, a guy on AR15.com has a XR100 & took a Badger Ord. 20MOA base(made for a Remy Short Action) & modified it to work on the XR100. Does anyone make a one piece weaver base for this rifle? I think WARNE may of just came out with one...I gotta check that out.

The Remington MDL.7 bases fit. I have Leupold two piece bases on my rifle.

Recommendations I received for single piece bases were the Weaver one piece base, the cross slots are on 1/2" centers
and 1917 Picatinny one piece base, the cross slots are on 7/16" centers.
