removing gas bloc

i am pretty new here, but i am trying to remove my gas block to get my hand guard free. Is there anything special i need to do to take the gas block off. I loosened the screw and i am afraid to pull to hard on it.

Some barrels have divots for the set-screws. I this is the case, you have to unscrew the set-screws several turns to clear the divots.

Carbon can also build up under the block making it difficult to remove.

this is a Dtech free floating guard. i took the set screws all the way out. if i do have carbon build up and need to pull hard on it i will but i wanted to know cause i hate to mess something up

If it's a WSSM, I use a little blue Lock-Tight on the set-screws. Just put a strap-wrench on the gas-block to break it loose, then work it off of the barrel.

Warming it up won't hurt either. You don't need to get it hot, just warm it up.
