Removing paint on stainless gun

I have an encore that I recently painted and I was a little nervous about how to remove the paint on it. I removed the paint on a previous gun which was blued by using the orange foam paint remover from lowes ( I don't remember the name) and It stripped the bluing off of the gun. Now when I use it on the encore with the stainless barrel and receiver will it strip any coating off of the finish?

What other recommendations do you have on removing the paint from a stainless barrel?

Why do you need to remove the paint? Do you want to go back to original and keep it that way or are you going to repaint a different color? Can you paint over existing paint? What kind of paint is currently on the gun? If you still have the paint you already used then read the label to see what to the manufacturer says to clean it up with and that will be what you want to use. I'd say plain old paint thinner/mineral spirits or lacquer thinner. Might take a little longer and more elbow grease but definitely not as harsh as that stripper stuff.

Well I was kicking around the idea of turning it into a pistol, and I wanted to go back to the original finish but I might just keep it the way it is. I was just curious if using laquer thinner would strip any kind of finish like other chemicals did on a blued gun.

I agree, used Lacquer thinner to degrease SS at work all the time never hurt it a bit.
