replacing a Plumb Crazy trigger?

I put two different Rock River NM triggers in two different Plum Crazy lowers and neither will work correctly. The first stage is heavy and will not return once you take up the 1st stage. The 2nd stage works OK. Any body installed aftermarket triggers in these things.

Not sure why you would want to. The Plum Crazy triggers are better than most factory triggers including the RR NM trigger, That is just my opinion, but I don't like 2 stage triggers. When My trigger moves, I want it to go bang.

Are you using the stock Rock River .1555 trigger pins that come with the NM 2-stage triggers or the .154 pins that were originally in the Plum Crazy lower?

Its my understanding you have to swap the whole triggger an safety assemembly when replacing them. Due to the all polymer lower, supposedly the safety has to be switched to metal if your doing that with a trigger as well.

Not true. The PC safety will work just fine.

I've installed four RRA 2 stage NM triggers in 4 different PC lowers. Three of the four installed and functioned just as they were supposed to.

I determined one of the lowers was just a few thousandths narrower in the area where the trigger was held in place by the pin. That trigger was somewhat bound (being squeezed) by the lower. Not much, but enough it was noticeable when slipping it in.

Venatic, that particular trigger did exactly as you are describing.

For an effective fix I narrowed the overall width of the trigger by filing approx .002 off each side, making it a total of .004" narrower than original. Worked just fine after I did that.

Take the entire trigger assembly back out. Take the spring off your trigger and install it. You should be able to tell if it's able to move freely or is being *squeezed* by the lower.

May not be your problem. But it might be.

My information came from a local dealer. I was only offering the information I was given. Don't feel a need to replace my trigger so I cannot say from experience.

I was using the pins that came in the PC lower. The narrow channel seems to be the possible issue but not sure until I get back and try it.

Use the .1555 oversized pins that came with the Rock River triggers. The .154 pins may or may not work properly with the 2-stage Rock River triggers which is why they are sent with the .1555 pins for install. Try the larger pins and see if that cures the problem. Supposedly 1/3 triggers won't work with .154 pins based on what we've heard from RRA/KNS.

Hopefully that fixes the problem. It seems weird such a small size deviation in the pins could affect the function of the trigger but it apparently can.

Yes, I figured out the problem and you were right. Sorta. It turns out that the actual opening that the trigger slides thru was lightly touching the trigger so a little judicious filing on the trigger opening on both sides and it works perfectly. Maybe that's what you meant and if it was you were absolutely right. But your post got me to looking for anywhere it could be making contact and there it was plain as day and how I did not see that ..... old eyes I guess.
That was the first one I have not gotten to the second one yet to see if that's the issue with it as well. Since they have consecutive serial #'s I am guessing they have the same problem. Thanks guys.
The pins did mike slightly smaller but it does not seem to matter.

One more point... I called Plum Crazy on Tuesday and left a message still have not heard back so CS there seems a little lacking.

I'm not for sure who answers tech questions, order related issues, etc, but emails are generally answered super quick from PCF. If you (or anyone else) need to get ahold of them, I've always found it easier to contact via email: sales @ pcfmfg.com (remove spaces).

Glad to hear you figured it out. Good to know if any other customers experience issues. That was the first we've heard of the ID of the lower causing interference on these lowers. We have heard of some interior spec issues with drop-in triggers and some Aero Precision lowers before. Of course, the poylmer version is a bit easier to dremel out than the forged version if someone runs into an issue such as you did.
