Reviving Photobucket

Copied & pasted off the Nosler forum. You may be able to view your Photobucket photos again. I run Firefox and it worked, I can now view my Photobucket images that were previously blocked.

Quote:

Photobucket has chosen to show you this block image instead of the original image. However, unless the user deleted their photobucket account, every old photobucket image is still linked on this website (and every other place on the internet).

There are Free Add-Ons available for both Chrome and Firefox, which will let you choose to see the original photo instead of the "ransom block" image, throughout the Internet.

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/cate ... ions?hl=en
Then search for PHOTOBUCKET

for Firefox - addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/photobucket-fix/

With this, you can see everyone's old photobucket images in context on every thread and every website.

Uploading the patch, you're not doing photobucket any favors, giving them any money, agreeing with them - all you're doing is restoring your old knowledge base to where it was before the photobucket ransom

If you want to remove the add-on later, go to Add-ons/Extensions and remove or disable it, or with Chrome, just right-click on your toolbar.

Photobucket is feeling the pain. Been receiving emails almost weekly trying to peddle their $400 "bargain" plan. Apparently they aren't getting many takers as they now have "layaway" plan: here's their latest offer.

This has nothing to do with Photobucket, I refuse to pay them a cent.
This is a patch to bring back the images that were blocked.

I know, but thought the email was hilarious.

The last email I received from PB had an option for $99.99 a year for hosting.

“We would like to offer a tailored plan for users just like you - our Premium plan for $99.99 / year.

“The Premium plan will provide 3rd party hosting for non-commercial use on your forums, blogs, and personal websites*. Additionally, you will be able to store up to 300,000 photos.

We are working on some exciting changes for 2018. This is our exclusive introductory price and this offer will expire in 7 days.“

I'd like all my old posts to show pictures again, but I'm not going to go out of my to send any traffic through PB. I'm happy with SmugMug. As I've said before, if PB had notified me that they needed to move away from the free hosting model and would charge a reasonable fee (to me that's less than 50 bucks a year), I'd have said "Sure, sign me up." But nope, they held our pictures hostage and then fed me the line that 400 bucks a year was a bargain. Hah! I didn't buy that line then and I'm going to buy their line now. They thought they could shove that down our throats and we'd like it. They were wrong.
